This is a fifteen day road safari, which will give you an extra-ordinary experience to one of the best ecotourism and cultural destinations in Kenya, as well as the best of wildlife viewing safari and beach holiday. Your safari will start in Nairobi and end in Nairobi, taking you into western Kenya for a visit to the Luo and Luhya tribes. You will be able to merge into the rich Luo and Luhya Community cultures while at the same time visiting the scenic Nyanza and Lake Victoria regions, not forgetting the Western province's Rain forests and cliffs. Afterwards, you will be taken to the Maasai Mara; the 7th wonder of the world and 4th most preferred destination; Amboseli and Tsavo West and East National Parks, where you will enjoy game viewing drives. You will end your safari by visiting the beautiful Diani beach in Mombasa, enjoying the sun and extensive sandy stretches, as well as other activities such as swimming and shopping at the Kenyan coast. You will travel in a private tour van and stay in homesteads, lodges and tented camps during your safari.
Itinerary
Day 1
Day 15:
Diani Beach – Nairobi – Departure
After breakfast, you will be checked out of your resort and be transferred to the Moi international airport for your departure flight to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your flight to your next destination.
End of Safari.
Day 2
Nairobi - Kisumu City
You will depart Nairobi in the morning after breakfast and travel to Kisumu. You will have lunch at Kericho town where you will have a walk in the tea plantations, then drive via Lwanda Magere (the Luo warrior who was killed and turned into a stone). You will stop for lunch then afterwards continue to Kisumu arriving late in the afternoon for dinner and overnight. (You may opt to stay with a family within the Kisumu peri-urban or stay in a Kisumu Hotel.)
Dinner and Overnight will be at Kisumu hotel/ Imperial Hotel / homestead in Kisumu city or a similar hotel.
Day 3
Kisumu City Tour - Ndere Island National Park
After breakfast you will be driven to Dunga beach, have a chat with the fishermen and then take a leisure boat ride to Ndere Island National park to see some game and bird life. You may join the fishermen fishing on Lake Victoria if you so wish. You will take a boat ride back to Dunga beach then drive to Kit- Mikaye (This rock is where Mikaye the mother of the Luo tribe sheltered herself after a long journey down the Nile). You will then drive back to Kisumu for Lunch.
After Lunch, you will go for a Kisumu City tour which takes you to Impala Park, Kisumu Museum, The Kisumu city market, Children's Homes, women groups, Kisumu beach Resort, Tilapia beach, Kiboko Bay and back to your hotel.
Dinner and Overnight will be at Imperial hotel in Kisumu city or a similar hotel.
Day 4
Kisumu City - Kakamega Forest
After breakfast, drive to Kakamega via the weeping stone, have a chat with the local community leaders and then proceed to Kakamega, you will have a full day exploration of Kakamega forest in search of birds, butterflies and animals such as Colobus monkeys, blue and red tailed monkeys as well as olive baboons. You will then have Lunch at the camp-site and continue with your tour of the forest till 4.00pm when you will retire at Rondo Retreat Resort for Dinner and overnight stay.
Kakamega Forest; Over 30 varieties of snakes including the deadly gaboon viper, Jameson’s mamba and black mamba are found in Kakamega forest. There are also gigantic and very old indigenous trees, some of which are hundreds of years old. With over 300 bird species, over 350 varieties of trees and over 400 species of butterflies, Kakamega forest is one of nature’s best attractions. Flying squirrels, forest bucks, duikers and dik-diks are also common. This is also home to the world’s slowest mammal – the potto.

Day 5
Kakamega - Kogelo Village – Kamito/Mbita point
Depart Kakamega after breakfast, head through Kisumu-Busia road and branch at Majengo on the Majengo – Lwanda Road. You will then reach the T Junction and proceed left to the Equator Line Point. After a photographic session on the Equator line, you will proceed to Luanda town then, divert to the left heading straight to Ngiya market. Tuesdays are normally market days at Ngiya, so if you arrive on this day, you will be able to see a beehive of activities at this market. You will then proceed and divert onto the left just before you reach Mbeji Academy onto the Murram road. You will then take about 15 minutes before you arrive at the Kogelo Dispensary on your right. After a visit of the dispensary, you will proceed to the Kogelo market, Kogelo primary school and Senator Barack Obama Secondary School. You will then enter Sarah Obama's home behind the secondary school.
Kogelo is the ancestral home of Barack Obama, Sr., the father of current United States President - Barack Obama. Barack Obama, Sr. is buried in the village. Some of their family members, including his paternal grandmother Sarah Anyango Obama, still lives in the homestead. In the home, Sarah Obama's home; you will find both the grave sites for Barack Obama Sr. and his father's. You will also find in the homestead Sarah's house and the security tents. You will visit the vegetable garden, the cattle Boma and sit under the big mango trees where Sarah holds interviews with visitors.
You will be able to have one on one chat with Mama Sarah Obama at her homestead. You will also meet the local community leaders who will tell you more about the Luo culture within the Kogelo Community. This is the African home of the current USA President, Barack Obama.
Packed lunch will be served en route. Proceed to Lwanda Kotieno for your Ferry ride to Mbita point. You will arrive late in the evening and check in at Lake Victoria Safari Village Resort for Dinner and overnight.

(Note: If time does not allow, you will put up for the night in a posh homestead at Kamito beach in readiness for the next morning trip to Lwanda Kotieno then to Mbita Point).
Day 6
Mbita - Ruma National Park
Depart after a breakfast drive through hills and meandering roads to Ruma National Park with a picnic lunch. You will do a game drive then drive out to Thim Lich Ohinga onto Gogo falls then back to Mbita point for Dinner and Overnight at Lake Victoria Safari Village Resort.

Day 7
Mbita Point – Maasai Mara
You will enjoy an early morning boat ride on Lake Victoria and a chat with the fishermen before breakfast. After breakfast, drive past sugar plantations on your way to the Masai Mara with a packed lunch en-route. You will arrive in the evening and be checked in at a camp for dinner and overnight stay.
The Mara’s landscape is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Elephant, lion, buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that complete the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Maasai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, Dik Dik, hartebeest, Grant’s gazelle and Thompson’s gazelle among others.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at Ilmoran camp or a similar camp.
Day 8
Maasai Mara
An early pre-breakfast game viewing drive will be followed by breakfast, after which you will spend the day game viewing. This includes going up to the Mara River where the immigration of wildebeests and zebras takes place annually from Serengeti; popularly known as the Great Annual Migration. You will then stop for an early picnic lunch and proceed with the drive till dusk. However, instead of going for the pre-breakfast game viewing drive, you can opt to go for an optional balloon flight game viewing safari at an extra cost.
You can opt to carry out your game viewing activity on an adventurous balloon flight over the spectacular Mara at an extra cost. This package includes a champagne drink in the wild and a bush breakfast.
In November 2006 the Masai Mara was named as the New 7th wonder of the world because of what experts termed as "the uniqueness of the area and the preservation it provides to so many species living in harmony". It is understandable because this annual migration is the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth. After lunch, you will visit an Enkang' (a maasai village) where you will meet Maasai elders and the chief.

Day 9
Maasai Mara – Nairobi – Amboseli
After an early breakfast, you will check out of your camp and depart for your next destination, which is, the Amboseli National Park via Kajiado and Namanga. You will arrive in time for lunch at Nairobi City Restaurant before proceeding to Amboseli National Park with game viewing en route. Afterward arrival, you will check into your camp and go for a late afternoon game viewing drive till evening.
Amboseli National Park is renowned for its huge elephant herds. Africa’s highest Mountain – Mt Kilimanjaro sits on the upper slopes of Amboseli National park. Mt. Kilimanjaro’s snow white peak lies across the border in Tanzania. Seeing the Kilimanjaro hovering above the clouds in the early hours of the morning is quite an experience. For the enthusiastic photographer, animal pictures arising against the dramatic backdrop of the mountain is quite a thrill. Apart from the Elephants, Amboseli is a home to; buffalos, black rhinos, zebras, wildebeest and other plain animals

Day 10
Amboseli National Park
An early morning game viewing drive will be followed by breakfast, after which you will spend the whole day exploring the extensive ecosystem looking out for plains game such as wild dogs, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes, mongooses, giraffes and others. Lunch will be served at your camp.
Amboseli National Park; The combination of scenery, people and animals is what makes the Amboseli national park fascinating. Beautifully situated at the foot of the towering Kilimanjaro, it Is the home of the brightly painted maasai tribe, here you can see lions , cheetahs, spotted hyenas and wild dogs as well as gnus , Kaffir buffaloes , Burch ell’s zebras and herds of elephants . All these animals come to drink at water holes consisting of small lakes or muddy ponds kept filled up by water from the melting snows of Kilimanjaro. The northern lake Amboseli contains water only after rain.
Dinner and overnight stay will be at Kibo safari Camp or a similar camp.
Day 11
Amboseli - Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Tsavo West and then into Tsavo East National Park, arriving in time for lunch at your camp. After lunch you will proceed for an afternoon game viewing drive till evening when you check in into your camps for dinner and overnight stay.
Tsavo East National Park is a catchment for visitors from all parts of the world. It has a large herd of elephants and other wildlife such as rhinos, leopards, crocodiles, waterbuck and zebras. This extensive region has over 500 recorded bird species. The Tsavo East National Park has an interesting and diverse history including: the Waliangulu and Kamba tribes who used the park as a hunting ground prior to gazettement; the first European to see Mount Kenya, rev. Dr. L. Krapf, journeyed on foot through this area in 1848; during the construction of the railway bridge over the Tsavo River in 1898, lions (the famed man-eaters of Tsavo) terrorized the workers, killing over 130 people before being killed by Col. J. H. Patterson. During World War 1, British forces along the Tsavo River encountered threats from invading German soldiers from Tanganyika (now Tanzania); the European explorer Captain Lugards a European explorer passed through the area on his way to Uganda.

Day 12
Tsavo East
You will enjoy a pre breakfast game viewing drive. After breakfast, depart for another game viewing till lunch time. Packed lunch will be served during your drive so that you can continue exploring the vast lands till evening.

Day 13
Tsavo East – Mombasa – Diani Beach
After breakfast, you will start your journey to your next destination, which is Mombasa for a beach holiday. On arrival, you will be booked into your beach resort and have your lunch. You will have the afternoon at your leisure, where you can take a rest as you enjoy a cool swim in the pool, or just relaxing on the extensive white sandy beach.
All meals and overnight stay will be at Papillon Lagoon Reef Resort or similar.
Day 14
Diani Beach
After breakfast, you will spend the day at leisure on this beautiful beach. The beach is less than one hour's drive from the famous port of Mombasa. You can also opt to visit the famous Mombasa town or Fort Jesus or enjoy a cruise on the famous Tamarind Dhow (at an extra cost). You can also opt to visit different curio shops for ornaments and interesting sandals. Lunch will be served at Papillon Lagoon Reef Resort.
All meals and overnight stay will be at Papillon Lagoon Reef Resort or Similar.
