Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi Mara:
After breakfast picked up from your city hotel, and depart for Masai Mara game reserve, which is commonly known for the 'big five'. It takes about five hours to get there via Narok town. Arrive in time for lunch, then afternoon game drive.
The Masai Mara, now The New 7the wonder of the world and 4th preferred tourist destination in the world is a home to wildlife in such abundance and variety that it is difficult to imagine. The most spectacular event of the natural world takes place here; The annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture while being followed on their heels by the predators of the savanna; lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.
It hosts over 450 species of animals which include lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.
Dinner and overnight at Keekorok lodge or similar.

Day 2

Mara
Pre-breakfast morning game drive which gives you the chance to see animals hunting, thereafter back to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon you can choose to go for game drive or relax by the pool or visit the Masai villages OR Optional Balloon Flight
Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon provided at an extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience.

Dinner and overnight at Keekorok lodge or similar.

Day 3

Mara /Nakuru
After breakfast check out and have an en route game drive as you drive into the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in Nakuru national park in time for lunch. After lunch proceed for an evening game drive in the park, which has some rare animals like white rhinos and Rothschild giraffes. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru lodge or similar.
5th Aug 2009: Nakuru/Naivasha
Pre-breakfast morning game drive, then proceed to the nearby Lake Naivasha and have game drives and have the option of having a boat ride across this enormous lake filled with then flamingo bird species.
At 1880 metres above sea level, Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley Lakes. It is the second largest freshwater lake in Kenya and one of only two freshwater lakes in the rift valley, the other being L. Baringo. Lake Naivasha is unusual in having no known outlet, normally a prerequisite for a freshwater lake! The lake edge supports dense vegetation which, in turn, supports a thriving bird population including the Grey-capped Warbler, Spectacled Weaver, Brimstone Canary and Red-billed Firefinch. All told the area has a bird list of over 350 species. While not usually one the of the main safari stops, Lake Naivasha is a good place for a one-night stop. The Kenyan roads mean that travelling from North to South (or vice versa) usually means travelling via Nairobi and is sometimes too much for a comfortable trip in one day. Lake Naivasha is on the main road to Nairobi and not too far from the city so makes a good alternative stop-over with some interesting birding.

Day 4

Nakuru/Naivasha
Pre-breakfast morning game drive, then proceed to the nearby Lake Naivasha and have game drives and have the option of having a boat ride across this enormous lake filled with then flamingo bird species.

Day 5

Naivasha / Lake Bogoria
After breakfast, depart for the third largest lake that is Baringo and spend the day there experiencing the natural hot water springs with a picnic lunch.

Lake Bogoria is a wild area; the lake itself set at the bottom of a trough at the base of a sheer 600 meter wall called the Ngendelel escarpment. Hot water geysers and fearsome fumaroles are found on the western shoreline evidencing the turmoil below. In the middle of the day the heat can be oppressive but there is a wonderfully cool campsite - Fig Tree - where a mass of giant figs create a cool haven and a limpid stream of fresh water adds to the oasis ambience. Game is far from plentiful but strangely this is the most likely place in Kenya where visitors can find and photograph the Greater Kudu. The attraction of the lake apart from its scenic magnificence is the opportunity, usually there, to see tens of thousands of flamingoes and a multitude of other water birds.
The Loburu hot springs erupt along the lakeside and are as captivating as they are dangerous. Because of the extreme temperatures of these boiling springs you need to be careful when near them.

Day 6

Bogoria / Amboseli
In the morning after breakfast proceed to Nairobi as you enjoy sights of coffee, tea, pineapple plantations along the highway. Arrive in Nairobi early in the afternoon for your lunch then proceed to Amboseli National park arriving in the evening.

Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Lodge or similar.

Day 7

Amboseli
Spend the whole day in Amboseli where you can have a chance to a clear view of the famous Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park is famous for the biggest elephants.

Amboseli is renowned for its huge elephant herds. Africa's highest Mountain - Mt Kilimanjaro sits on the upper slopes of Amboseli National park. Mt. Kilimanjaro snow white peak lies across the border in Tanzania. Seeing the Kilimanjaro hovering above the clouds in the early hours of the morning is quite an experience. For the enthusiastic photographer, animal pictures arising against the dramatic backdrop of the mountain is quite a thrill. Apart from the Elephants, Amboseli is a home to; buffalos, black rhinos, zebras, wildebeest and other plain animals.

Day 8

Amboseli / Nairobi
Have a final pre breakfast game drive then after breakfast, depart for Nairobi to catch your flight to the next destination. Drop off at airport.

End of safari.
