The Jungfrau region in Switzerland is one of the most famous ski regions in Europe, and it contains the Grindelwald; Interlaken; Murren; and Wengen ski resorts. It is located in the Bernese Oberland and is the place to go for winter sports enthusiasts. There are a wide variety of runs catering to all levels of ability and experience.
There are a large number of runs for beginners and intermediates, and experts and snow boarders have some of the best black runs and off-pistes. All the resorts are outstandingly linked, and the train system is reliable and efficient. Apres Ski in the region is generaly quiet and laid back in most of the resorts, with limited nightlife scenes. Nearby Attractions: The Jungfrau region has a number of tourist attractions worth visiting on the days when you feel like taking a break from skiing. The Museum of Local History, in Grindelwald, is a great place to start off sightseeing, with many interesting exhibits on the history of the town.
One of the best things to do other than skiing, is to go to the Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe, which has the most spectacular and breathtaking views over the Alps.
The Museum of the Valley of Lauterbrunnen is another great place for an outing, on display are many exhibitions about the history of the valley and its towns.
The Trummelbach Falls are another breathtaking sight not to be missed, and are well worth the trip. |
Aprés-Ski: Apres Ski in the Jungfrau region is mostly laid back and quiet, with a couple of the resorts having a more lively nightlife. All the resorts have a number of excellent restaurants, which serve a range of traditional; Swiss; and international cuisine.
They also have a number of shops that sells a wide range of products and offer equipment for hire.
A range of non-ski activities and facilities are also on offer, including bowling alleys; a sports centres; gyms; indoor swimming pools; ice rinks; saunas; and hot tubs. Each resort has a different Apres Ski scene, so it would be a good idea to check the resort's profile beforehand. |
