Popular Travel Destinations

Andermatt is an old fashioned ski resort that is a little behind other Swiss resorts in terms of commercial development, which means that it retains much of its picturesque charm. It is a great place to go for a more quiet skiing holiday, away from the crowds and commercialism of other resorts. Andermatt has excellent snow and a good range of slopes covering 56km, and it also has some of the best off-piste.

It is a good place for beginners and intermediate skiiers, but experts will enjoy getting off the marked trails of the Gemsstock. The apres ski scene in Andermatt is a little on the quiet side with limited choices, but you can still have a great time away from the slopes.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Nearby Attractions: Andermatt has more to offer than just skiing alone, if you need a break from skiing you can go and check out the Talmuseum, which is housed in an old historic building and exhibits a wide range of works of art.

You can also go to the Gotthardmuseum, which is one of the highest museums in the world standing at 2100m, and it exhibits the history of the mountain passes and Gotthard street. There are also a number of beautiful old churches worth taking a look at, including the St Kolumban Church; Mariahilf Chapel; and the Reformierte Kirche.
Aprés-Ski: The Apres Ski scene is a little limited, although there are a few places that offer a good time for all. Some of the best places include Ochsen, which is a great bar to sit back and reax after a hard day's skiing. Other bars worth checking out are Barry Bar; Piccadilly Pub; and Bar La Curva.

If you're looking for something a little more lively head for Dancing Gotthard or Baroko Music Bar, which both offer great music and fun. There are also a number of excellent restaurants in Andermatt, which serve a wide range of excellent local and international food. Cafe Danoith and Bahnhofbuffet are two excellent choices.
