Superbagneres/Luchon is charming spa/ski resort set in a spectacular Pyrenees area, with Luchon being the lower resort. The season is restricted to a month as the altitude is fairly low (630m).

The skiing would suit all levels and there are very good school facilities, snow boarders will enjoy their park and snow shoeing, telemark and sleigh rides are available.

The village has a charming collection of little shops, restaurants and bars.

The spa offers many treatments and the Luchon waters are famed near and wide.

The village tourist office will guide you on the many scenic hikes and attractions in the area. The village has plenty of sports activities and child care is of a high standard.

Superbagneres - by Mike from France - 2007-12-12
The description in the Superbagneres intro is totally incorrect and understates the qualities that the resorts of Luchon and Superbagneres have to offer. The ski season runs from normally the 2nd or 3rd week in December until the end of March or the 1st week in April. Due to extensive investement in snow making, in all but the worst of conditions visitors will find plenty of skiing to be had. Luchon is a lively town with elegant Napoleonic architecture and a population of around 3000 which during high season increases significantly. With the exception of the main French school holidays the pistes will feel relatively quiet, and to experience skiing with the piste to yourself try missing the traditional French lunch time of 1200 - 1400 and eat later. The towns main tree lined street is adorned with bars, restaurants and shops which though very traditionally French are well suited to welcome visitors from afar. This is a very family friendly resort, with options for both the skier and non skier alike, and if you are looking for a different ski experience I can certainly recommend Luchon/Superbagneres.
