Montgenevre, France Ski Resorts
Montgenevre Ski Holiday Guide. Skiing Resort Details & Info
|
 |
|
Montgenevre is just 2km from the Italian border and attracts plenty of Italians at the weekend, but in the week the queues are largely absent and the height of the resort usually ensures good snow and you can ski straight to your accommodation. The skiing is perfect for the beginner and there are several challenging slopes in it's vast piste area. Experts head to Italy for more black slopes.
The shopping is pretty basic and there are enough restaurants not to get bored, a smattering of bars and a dance club. This is not a wild resort, but a lovely traditional Alpine village, with some nice outings over the border to Italy.
This is the perfect resort for the family on a budget as it is not too expensive for passes and accommodation, and the child care facilities are good. |

Nearby Attractions: This a great area for walking and the tourist office in the village will arrange a guide or you could just go out on your own. Child caring is first class, so they will be in good hands.
St Maurice's Church is the village landmark and it's tall steeple can be seen from afar. In the nearby villages there are many interesting churches and chapels.
There is a horse riding school, and there is nothing like riding through the snowy mountains.
There is a skating rink in the village and the season brings plenty of festivals to the resort.
Most visitors head to the Italian villages where the prices are cheaper at the shops. |
Aprés-Ski: After the sun sets the village has enough life in it to interest everyone bar the serious party animal. The skidoos are in action after the pistes shut down at 17.30.
For a quiet evening, try the cinema for the latest blockbuster.
There are a fair amount of bars and restaurants (Some at altitude), but nevertheless a good choice of dining can be enjoyed and for the real night owls, try Le Blue Night disco, which rocks from late at night till the early morning hours. |
