Les Deux Alpes is the largest resort in the Dauphine region, and with a glacier at 3568m it is not only the largest in Europe, but allows summer skiing. The off piste runs are amazing, though beginners are well catered for.

Boarders have the popular Nitro park in which to hone their skills.

There are plenty of sporting activities in the town including a bowling alley, sports centre, gym and ice rink. Also to be enjoyed are the many walking trails. Shopping is well organised and plentiful and the nightlife is second to none.

Overall the resort isn't the quiet tucked away place that would be ideal for families, but with the choice of pistes, hotels, drinking and dining, there could be something to please everyone.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Nearby Attractions: The child care is very good, so leave the kids with them and the skis at your hotel and enjoy the area for a day or two. There is a couple of interesting museums. The one at Mont de Lans Village bears the long winded name of Musee du patrimoine Chasal Lento and traces the history of the Oisans people, who originally populated the area.

The Natural history museum at Maison de la Montagne tells of the areas beauty, animals and the floral kingdom. Though there is no substitute for walking the area and that can be achieved via the mountain trails.Venosc village is also worthwhile for it's chapels and craft shops.

A holiday here would not be complete without visiting the Ice Cave, with it's magnificent views by the funicular.
Aprés-Ski: A fine choice of restaurants can be found in the village and at altitude, offering a fine array of dining from the classy International to simple take away. The tea rooms include Salon de The La Marjolaine at 114 avenue de la Muzelle which serves a homemade chocolate fondue amongst the other mouth-watering delights.

There are a plethora of bars, some with live music. Both discos are humming till the early hours and offer a free bus ride home.
