Nearby Attractions: Gourette is a laid back kind of resort, and the nearest town of size is Pau 50 km from the resort. This compact city had the British and Americans flocking here in the 19th century for it's mild climate. The shopping and cafe life is good along the rues des Cordeliers notably.The two river valleys d’Ossau and d’Aspe attract walkers, mountain bikers and climbers.
Le Petit Train d’Artouste is a fine day out for the kids, on what originally transported dam workers. The train runs for 10 km around the picturesque Pic de la Sagette and is located in the nearby National Park of the Pyrenees. |
Aprés-Ski: For a low key resort Gourette enjoys some nightlife as there are about 17 restaurants, with 2 at altitude, a cinema (If you understand French) and a night club that starts rocking late and do's not finish till early in the morning.
If you enjoy a gamble, there is a casino just 8km away with a fine restaurant. |
