Borovets is known as the oldest and most popular mountain resort with the best ski school in Bulgaria. Although, it’s also commonly associated with tight budged and conscious skiers who come here to enjoy the adventure of snow sports at a cheap price.
The resort has hosted twice World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing and offers ski runs for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers, designed with international markings and multilingual signs.
Cross-country and biathlon tracks are located 2 km away from the resort together with a cross-country tuition tracks. If you are learning to ski and require an instructor this is not a problem, many of the tutors here are former professional skiers and are fluent in foreign languages. |

Nearby Attractions: Borovets offers many scenic routes so winter walks are always an option. Excursions to the Rila Monastery lead to many picturesque spots and a visit to Sofia, which is only 70 km away, is also a good choice.
This 2,200-year-old city is rich in history and offers many churches and cathedrals with beautiful architecture. If you want to discover the Ottoman heritage, several mosques can also be visited here. A tour to Melnik can be very interesting as it offers unique pyramids and a great selection of wines. |
Aprés-Ski: Borovets has many bars, cafes, night clubs and discos to choose from. Night life here is excellent and you can enjoy dancing till early morning, most places offer good prices and special 'happy hour' discounts.
International music is played at most bars but if you want to experience the local music you can visit any of the two taverns in Bor and Ela hotels that offer genuine Bulgarian environment with national folk music.
Swimming pool, sauna, massage and fitness centre are available at Hotels Rila & Samokov.
As far as services, you can find supermarkets and ATMs, as well as pharmacies and dentists at the resort. An ambulance service and a clinic are also available. |
