The Axamer-Lizum resort was built especially for the Winter Olympics of 1964. It is also the largest of all the ski resorts in the Innsbruck area. The resort is located only 9kms from Innsbruck and offers a couple of nice Apre Ski facilities, these include a leisure center with a beautiful swimmingpool for adults and a water rapid slide for the kids.

The resort also caters for snow boarders with a park and a halfpipe. The slopes are mostly favoured by the intermediate skiers, but also caters for beginners and experts.

Nearby Attractions: The resort is located only 9km from the town of Innsbruck, which offers visitors a great selection of entertainment. There are many historical sites to visit, such as beautiful churches and cathedrals, as well as a large selection of museums. The Alpenzoo offers a wonderful opportunity for a day of family entertainment. It is home to more than 800 animals belonging to 140 different species.

The Cathedral of St James is another definite worth while attraction, being built in 1717 and housing the 1620 monument of Archduke Maximilian III. Whilst in town, check out the Tiroler Volkskunst-Museum, which contains the largest and most impressive collection of artifacts from Tirol.
Aprés-Ski: The Apre Ski scene is pretty relaxed, offering visitors a couple of good restaurants offering a combination of tasty traditional and international cuisine.

The resort also features a leisure center with a huge indoor swimmingpool for adults, as well as a pool and water rapid slides for the children. The center is also equipped with a solarium and a sauna. Also available for entertainment is an ice rink and gorgeous lengths of walking trails.
