 Scone Palace (pronounced "skoon") - Tourist Attraction |
You will find this palace a couple of miles from Perth. It is considered to be one of Scotland's best historical country houses. It has been owned and lived in by the family of the Earl and Countess of Mansfield, for almost four hundred years and is a dignified but not pompous house that is obviously a home rather more than a stately monument.
The palace has a huge number of priceless antiques and elegant furnishings.

 Perth's Parkland - Natural Attraction |
| Two big areas of verdant parkland, known as the North and South Inch, border the city centre. The Battle of the Clans in 1396, in which men from the Chattan and Quhele clans fought, took place on North Inch. Whilst in the 17th century the South Inch was a public gathering place, where witches were burnt alive. Rather more civilised activities take place on both inches these days, such as sporting events, boating and putting.

| The city centre is rather on the small side but it still offers some decent shopping opportunities. There is a good selection of shops along High Street and South Street, and St John's shopping centre on King Edward Street provides even more variety. Along with the usual chain stores and charity shops you will find little shops selling local goods such as shortbread, haggis and of course whiskey.

| Situated behind the City Hall you will find this church. It is a substantial and rather appealing building, which is surrounded by cobbled alleys and some rather nice cafes. Founded originally in 1126, the present building actually dates from the fifteenth century. A war memorial chapel was added to the structure in the 1920’s.

| 78 George Street. The museum is housed in a rather dignified old building in George Street. It’s exhibits cover local and natural history, art and, of course, whisky which is a subject dear to the heart of many visitors to Perth. The museum provides a good, interesting overview of local life through the centuries.

| Marshall Place. This art gallery is situated in a round Victorian water tower, which has some beautiful ornate neoclassical embellishments. The gallery has a first-rate collection of the sculptures, paintings and drawings by J.D. Fergusson, who was the principal proponent of the Scottish Colourist movement.

 Perth Ice Rink - Sporting Activity |
| the Dewar's Centre, Glasgow Road. If you are interested in the winter sport of curling, then Perth Ice Rink is the place for you as it is one of the best places in Scotland to watch the game. The sport is virtually unknown outside of Scotland, Canada and northern Europe but it is entertaining to watch and even more so to play.

| The perfect way to get your bearings in the city is to take an open-topped Guide Friday tour bus. These run between June to Aug and slowly cruise around the town stopping off at the sights so that you can get off and on the bus as you wish. It also goes to the outskirts of Perth and takes in Scone Palace amongst other attractions.

Take a trip in to the countryside and you will find it absolutely stunning. Perthshire is a place of great beauty. There are the mountains of the Highlands, forests and mysterious deep lochs, all of which provide great opportunities for walking, hiking and water sports.
The area is dotted with pretty little towns and villages and a visit to some of them, such as the small town of Dunkeld with its attractive cathedral ruins is well worthwhile.
