A good central base in which to explore the surrounding area, though not without it's charm. La Cuidadela is the towns ancient pentagonal fortress built in the 16th century. The Cathedral is a modest affair and has a Roman influence, the museum inside is one of the first in Spain.

Castillo de Loarre - Tourist Attraction |
A magnificent castle located just 5km from the town of Loarre. Sitting high above a fertile valley, this huge fortification has a wealth of history, but the absence of guided tours make it a bit difficult for the visitor. Echo Valley - Natural Attraction |

Valley of Anso - Tourist Attraction |
Anso is not far from Hecho and a beautiful little village with cobbled streets, Boarding houses, small shops and friendly cafes dotted around. Another good destination to hike around, with it's lovely mountains and lakes.There is a museum in the village and a fiesta occurs on the last Sunday in August. Not bad for a place with less than 1000 people.

Ordesa National Park - Natural Attraction |
56,000 acres of forests, alpine peaks and wildlife. This huge and beautiful park hugs the French border and the many marked trails make it suitable for the experienced hiker or the beginner. You can stay in the park in basic mountain huts, or if you have a car the surrounding villages. For just a day in the park try the Soaso Circle, which takes in a lot on the 5 hour hike.

D'Aiguestortes National Park - Natural Attraction |
The only National Park in Catalunya straddles the French border and covers an area of 10,000 hectares of snow capped mountains, Flowering meadows, lakes and forested areas. Maps are available at the tourist office and accommodation is available in the park in dormitories. The park is divided into two parts and the eastern half is the more popular side.

Andorra - Tourist Attraction |

This charming town is set in the foothills of the Pyrenees and is 44km east of Pamploma. Use the town as your base to discover the many attractions in the area. Two amazing gorges are 12 km from town, Castillo de Javier only 8km away is worth a visit and the surreal Leyre Monastery is very interesting. The town has some accommodation.

Roncal Valley - Tourist Attraction |
This inviting town is located in a valley, with many interesting towns, villages and mountain walks in the area. The town is well known for it's sharp, tangy cheese made from sheep's milk. The mountain air is refreshing. There is a small museum dedicated to the towns famed tenor, Julian Gayarre. There are some nice cafes and bars in town.
