They have a number of temporary exhibits, library, archive and a museum sho.

Pueblo Canario - Tourist Attraction
Located in the Parque Doramas, you will find this re-created wooden and whitewashed Canarian village. This is very touristy, but give the visitor a living insight into the local culture. The central square hosts folklore shows twice weekly.

Museo Nestor is in the village and is devoted to the works of the famed artist Nestor de la Torre. Half a day here will be ideal.

Cathedral de Santa Ana - Cutural Attraction
In the Vegueta quarter of Las Palmas stands this 15th century construction in the Gothic style. The interior work was undertaken by well known local sculptor Jose Lujan Perez. There is a museum in the Cathedral devoted to religious art and displaying an interesting collection. One can combine a visit here with the lovely Casa Museo de Colon across the square.

Playa Del Ingles - Tourist Attraction
Located on the southern tip of the island, you will find near perfect weather, picture perfect beaches, but they all know about the secret and the town is sometimes overrun with visitors. The towns name is 'Beach of the English' and that accurately describes the area. The town is package holiday heaven, but go west past the nudist beaches in the protected dunes to the quieter Maspalomas.

Teror - Cutural Attraction
Don't be put off by the name as this is a charming town in the centre of the island with some interesting colonial buildings. Basilica de la Virgen del Pino was built to mark the 'vision of the Virgin Mary' in the 15th century.(She gets around). They get plenty of mileage out of it with a fiesta in September and a charming museum. Apart from that it's a quiet town and the perfect base for exploring the island and a 1st class Sunday morning food market.

Puerto de Mogan - Tourist Attraction
this tourist resort is in the south of the island, and a more upmarket version of it's near Ingles neighbour. The yacht marina is a pleasant extension of the promenade and houses restaurants, cafes and shops. Friday mornings are for the quayside market. Boats leave to explore the lovely beaches nearby or maybe you want to go game fishing.

Plaza de Espana - Bar or Club
This is the night life district of Las Palmas. There are a plethora of discos, pubs, karaoke bars and nightclubs in the area. Start the night at the Heineken, then move on to the late night places like Cuasquias, La Floridita , La Roneria (specialising in rum based drinks) or for oldies, but goodies El Coto.

Carnival in Las Palmas - Local Festival or Holiday
You want to see the locals really let their hair down (Not that they are exactly shy), then try to be here around the start of March. It kicks off with a sheet/street parade through town and after the Queen is picked the celebrations move to Santa Catalina Park with it's open-air stage. Latin music, brass bands, clowns, magicians, acrobats, fireworks and the noisy and colourful fancy-dress parades carry on for 3 weeks.

Arucas - Tourist Attraction
If you prefer to stay away from the beaches, then this charming town in the mountains on a dormant volcano might be just your cup of tea. The most striking structure here is the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista, that resembles a Cathedral built from black Lavastone.

There are some interesting buildings in the town square and a placid public garden. The Rum factory is worth looking into and the town is close enough to the capital to make for the perfect short break;
