Musee de la Marine - Cutural Attraction
Place du Ingenieur-General-Monsenergue. This museum is one of the most interesting museums in Toulon. It houses a large collection of figureheads and ship models, and traces the history of shipbuilding through the ages.

This is a great place to take children, with many interesting and educational displays throughout the museum.

The museum is open Wednesday to Monday from 09h30 - 12h00 and 14h00 - 18h00. Admission is $5.60 for adults; $3.60 for children and students.

Musee du Vieux Toulon - Cutural Attraction
69 cours Lafayette. This museum is not to be confused with the Musee de Toulon. The exhibits housed here deal with the role of commerce; shipbuilding; and the French military during the development of Toulon. It has a tableaux of the historic figures who either protected or fostered its growth from medieval times to the present. The museum is open from Monday to Saturday from 14h00 - 18h00. Admission is free.

Cathedrale St Marie Major - Cutural Attraction
Rue Emile Zola, in Old Toulon. This cathedral was built in a Romanesque style in the 11th and 12th centuries and was expanded to it's current size in the 17th century. Its badly lit nave is Gothic, and the belfry and facade are from the 18th century. The cathedral is open everyday from 08h00 - 12h00 and 14h00 - 18h00. Admission to the cathedral is free.

Plage du Mourillon - Natural Attraction
This beach is located just outside the centre of the city and is the Toulon's largest beach. The white sand is always welcoming and the crowds that flock the beach on hot days are friendly. The beach is also where you'll find one of the Toulon's oldest fortresses, which dates back to 1514. There are also many shops; cafes; and snack shops along the beachfront, and are great for taking a break from the hot sun.

Place d'Armes - Natural Attraction
Located in the east end of Toulon. This large open area gives the city a spot for recreational sports and moments of relaxation. The Place d'Armes is spacious and has cement plaza areas with benches, which are all surrounded by a fence of hedges. It is very popular with children; couples; as well as mothers and children, who are all looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relaxing in the peaceful surroundings of the Place d'Armes.

Memorial du Debarquement en Provence - Cutural Attraction
Mont Faron. This amazing memorial houses many exhibitions, including displays that document the Allied landings in Provence in 1944. There are many other diplays about the history of Toulon and Provence. This should be on ervery visitor to Toulon's list of things to do. It is open in summer everyday from 09h30 - 11h45 and 14h30 - 17h45; and in winter Tuesday to Sunday from 09h30 - 11h30 and 14h00 - 16h30. Admission is $4.70 for adults; $1.80 for children 5 - 12; and free for children under 5.

New Hotel Tour Blanche - Hotel
Boulevard de l'Amiral-Vence. This seven-story hotel is the top hotel in Toulon, and is located in rocky hills north of the town center. It has amazing views over the town to the port and the sea. The hotel offers a range of facilities, including a restaurant; a bar; an outdoor pool; room service; and a laundry service. The modern and comfortable rooms all have air-conditioning; TV; minibar; telephone; hair dryer; and a full bathroom.

La Chamade - Restaurant or Cafe
25 rue Denfert-Rochereau. This is one of the best and most popular restaurants in Toulon. They serve a fixed-price menu that includes a choice of three appetizers; three main courses; and three desserts. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable, some of the chef's specialities include foie gras of duckling with salty caramel sauce; and eggplant with roasted lamb served with coriander sauce. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday from 12h00 - 14h30 and 19h00 - 21h30; and Saturdays from 19h00 - 21h00.

Plage de Notre-Dame - Natural Attraction
Located just out of Toulon. This is another of the excellent beaches in and around Toulon, which receives 275 days of sunshine every year. The beautiful white sands are perfect for lazing in the sun, or building sand castles. This is a great place for the whole family to have some fun in the sun; sand; and surf. There are also a number of restaurants and shops along the beachfront, that provide welcoming relief from the hot sun at lunch time.

Musee de Toulon - Cutural Attraction
113 bd. du General-Marechal-Leclerc. This museum houses exhibitions that display works from the 16th century to the present. There's an excellent collection of Provencal and Italian paintings, as well as religious works.

The newest acquisitions include New Realism pieces and minimalist art.

The museum is open everyday from 13h00 - 18h00. Admission is free.
