Racing Circuit and Musee de l'Automobile - Tourist Attraction
If you are not here for the famous race, never mind, because you can still view the circuit and the museum is open all year round. The museum traces the history of the car from the earliest black Fords to the latest models available in any colour, including formula 1 racers and the most modern motorbikes and pushbikes.

The charge to walk the track is 2 Euro and the museum costs 6 Euro.

Le Mans 24 hour race - Local Festival or Holiday
This world famous car race is what the town is famous for. So if you are around in the middle of June, accommodation might be a bit hard to come by in the town, but there are plenty of little villages in the beautiful Loire Valley that would gladly accommodate you. The race atmosphere is tremendous and spectators stay up the whole night to not miss the action. The race village has plenty to do and see and to attend is an unmissable experience for any race fan.

The Vieille Ville - Cutural Attraction
These thick Roman walls are located by the River Sarte and are amongst the best preserved and beautiful in France. Take a walk in the central area and discover the narrow streets and alleys that 'Cyrano de Bergerac' was filmed. 500 year old houses are side by side in these atmospheric streets. There are lots of cafes and shops to stroll around.

Musee de la Reine-Berengere - Tourist Attraction
9 rue Reine-Berengere, This small museum is located in one of the ancient old houses in the Vieille Ville. The 15th century house and museum are both of interest and display artefacts discovered in the area. Art works from local artists are on display and they often host temporary exhibitions. This is worth taking a half hour out of a walk around the old town.

Cathedrale St-Julien - Cutural Attraction
Pl. des Jacobins, This well known Cathedral was built in the 11th to 12 centuries and is a mixture of Gothic and Roman in style. For a time the Cathedral was one of the finest in Europe and it has been lovingly preserved. The exterior stonework is intricately carved with a pointed central spire and flying buttresses encircling the structure. The stained glass windows have survived the ravages of time well.

Musee and Parc de Tesse - Natural Attraction
2 av. de Paderborn, A quarter of an hour walk from town or catch the No 9 bus. The museum that depicts 600 years of art is housed in a 19th century bishops house. The collection includes paintings, sculpture, modern art and even an Egyptian mummy or two. The park around the house is a beautiful, shady and relaxing area and contains a waterfall and fountain.

Abbaye de l'Epau - Tourist Attraction
The Cistercian abbey is to be found 4 km from town along the Chartes-Paris road. The abbey's setting is in a pleasant rural environment and Queen Berengaria founded the Abbey in 1229. She was Richard the Lionheart's consort. The interior remains remarkably unaltered and for the lover of religious history this will be a rewarding trip.

Market - Tourist Attraction
This daily market takes place on the Place du Marche that sell the usual bric a brac on a Monday, Fridays there is also local foods. On Sundays the market moves to place du Jet-d'Eau, to catch the punters from the Cathedral I suppose. This is the biggest market day and you can stock up on home made cheese's, fruit and vegetables, or purchase a gift to take home.

Green 7 Hotel - Hotel
This popular and comfortable 2 star hotel is located at 447 Avenue Georges Durand and is very close to the famous track, next to a lovely large park and the old town and museums are within walking distance. There are also some good golf courses nearby.

The hotel boasts a fine restaurant, bar/lounge and internet access in all rooms. The rates are very reasonable and this is a good destination for a short break.

Amphitryon Restaurant - Restaurant or Cafe
Located in the Concorde Hotel, which is the top hotel in town and well worth having a look around even if you don't eat here. The hotel and it's restaurant symbolise gracious living of time gone by

The elegant atmosphere and gourmet dining are well known in the town. The Chef serves French cuisine at her best and in the summer the terrace is open for an outside option.
