 Minimundus - Children’s Activity |
One need go no further, than this to see the rest of the world. This miniature world is situated close to Woerther Lake and houses over 170 models of the worlds major attractions constructed with amazing precision.
Young and old will be enthralled for hours as model trains pass the exhibits that even play the sounds connected to the attraction. One can even hear the sounds of prayer from major religions at the Wailing Wall. (Well worth the 11 Euros to enter.)

 Alter Platz Square - Tourist Attraction |
This is the towns main square in the heart of Klagenfurt and is pedestrianised. The square has a pretty little dragon fountain as it’s centerpiece and is flanked by beautiful mansions that date from the 16th century with their baroque facades and arcaded courtyards in Renaissance style. Another feature of the square is the Trinity column, which was erected in 1689 and is to commemorate the plague victims with its symbols of the world’s religions as its motifs. There are shops, cafes, restaurants and bars all around the square. Nice to relax and people watch while taking in the history.

 The Cathedral of Klagenfurt - Tourist Attraction |
The 16th century cathedral lies southeast of Neuer Platz. The interior is well preserved and adorned with stucco. The paintings that decorate the ceiling date from the 18th century; adjacent to the cathedral is an interesting museum dedicated to Christian artworks. Some exquisite pieces here including tapestries, stained glass and jewelry dating from as early as the 12th century. The cathedral and museum can be found at Lidmanskyg 10.

 Landesmuseum - Cutural Attraction |
This museum is centrally located in Museumgasse 2 and contains some marvelous Roman artifacts excavated from local diggings, and very interesting it is too. The museum is well laid out and gives one an idea of prehistoric life in this Austrian province of Carinthia near the Yugoslav border. One of the major pieces is the skull of a rhino, thought to be the model for the well-known Dragon fountain in Neuer Platz. The museum is closed on Mondays.

 Planetarium - Natural Attraction |
This fine planetarium is located in Europapark, it is possible from here to see strange planets and look back to mans first steps on the moon and explore strange asteroids and comets. They show a state of the art star show at the high-class theatre. They conduct the shows in German and English and are open daily.

 Klagenfurter Hutte - Natural Attraction |
This rewarding hiking trip is in the Karawanken-Mountains, 10km south of Feistritz im Rosental. If you hire a mountain bike it is a wonderful excursion. The hut serves as base camp for the climb up these mountains. When you reach the hut you will be rewarded with wonderful views a snack and Jagatee, which is a refreshing cuppa.

 Klagenfurt Dragon - Cutural Attraction |
This spectacular sculpture was completed in 1590 from a single slab of rock and dominates Neuer Platz, which is the main square of the town and is pedestrianised. The dragon is named after the mythical Lindwurm, which supposedly stalked this area in ancient history. There is a skull in the Landesmuseum on which the dragon is based, but that could be a rhino. So like all mysteries it remains just that. Lots of little coffee shops and cafes ring the square to sit and ponder the story.
