Pottery, jewellery-making, or painting the magnificent scenery around Sundance are a few of the activities you can indulge in if you are a tad bored with skiing, or if it is evening entertainment, there is always theatre under the stars, or celebrating in the Tree room restaurant that Robert Redford has built around a tree he did not wish to destroy. Should you feel the urge to venture farther than Sundance Village, there is always the Goldminer's Daughter in Alta, or the Tram Club in Snowbird. Failing that, take a ride to historic Park City for some mingling of the times, or check out Salt Lake City and all it has to offer.
Robert Redfords vision of a community that preserves the land, while forming an alliance of arts and recreation, resulted in Sundance. In the Sundance Village picturesque mountain homes, award-winning restaurants, an artisan centre, and spacious conference facilities are all located in a magnificent scenic setting. With 40 slopes to choose from, and offering beginner, intermediate, and expert challenges, Sundance is an attractive resort, even if it does not receive quite the impressive amount of snow as do its neighbouring resorts, Alta and Snowbird. The Art Shack in Sundance offers courses and workshops in different genres of art, from printmaking and glass blowing to painting, and more. The most famous artistic event is the annual Sundance Film Festival, which is held in late January.
