Salt Lake City - Home to four different ski resorts. The Wasatch Range which overlooks Salt Lake City provides the opportunity for world class downhill skiing. All the ski resorts offer luxurious accommodation, but you can also stay in Salt Lake City and ski at the different resorts everyday. There is a snow bus which operates from Salt Lake City to all four ski resorts during the mid-November to early-May season. This provides you with the opportunity to see all the different resorts in one holiday. The extensive mountain range in Salt Lake City offers a wonderful opportunity for hiking and camping in the summer months, as well as bird-watching in the Utah Lake State Park.
Snowbird Ski Resort - The Ski resort is home to various activities which will ensure a very enjoyable holiday. The resort has its own Cliff Spa which is known as the finest destination spa in the country. UTA buses provides Salt Lake City and surrounding areas with a comprehensive service and is recommended as a means of transport. During the ski season there is a snow bus which operates between all the different ski areas. Should you decide to use your own transport, it is important to remember that you will be required to have snow tyres or chains. All the major car-rental agencies have offices throughout Utah, so this is another viable option.
National festival and holidays
During the last week of June the Utah Arts Festival is held in Triad Center, features an artists' marketplace of culinary arts and the performing arts. The Highlands Festival, which consists of Scottish dancing, bagpipes, crafts, food booths and highland games, is held on the second Saturday in June at Fort Douglas.
The 24th of July commemorates the arrival of the Mormon pioneers in 1847 and consists of an arts festival, rodeos and a huge parade. The Utah State Fair is held in the beginning to mid-September. This is a one week festival of rodeos, carnival rides, agricultural and livestock shows.
