Amarillo Local History
From 1887 Amarillo was found as a cattle-shipping point on the railway. Discovery of natural gasses (e.g. helium) and petroleum in the early 20th Century added to the town's growth. Today Amarillo is an educational and industtrial centre specialising in mineral production and research.
