Easton's Beach - Just out of town. This is the best beach in Newport, and it is also known as First Beach. This is a great place for the whole family to have some fun in the sun; sand; and surf. There are many cabanas and a merry-go-round on the beachfront, as well as a range of cafes and shops, which provide shelter when the sun gets too hot.
Sachuest Beach - Located in Middletown. This is another excellent beach to take the family for some fun outdoors, away from the busy city life. This beach, also known as Second Beach, is famous for its sand dunes and long stretches of beautiful sand. It is also located near the bird sanctuary.

Scales & Shells - 527 Lower Thames Street. This is one of the best seafood restaurants on town, and is very popular especially in summer. They serve a wide range of seafood only, including the house speciality: swordfish grilled over hardwood and topped with roasted sweet peppers. This is a great place for lunch or dinner.
Newport Bars & Clubs
The Red Parrot - 348 Thames Street. This Irish saloon style bar is one of the most popular in town, and is frequented by a mixed group of locals and tourists. This is a great place to relax, have a few drinks and meet some new people. They also have live jazz performances from Thursday to Sunday.
One Pelham East - Thames and Pelham streets. This nightclub is very popular with the college kids. There is a cafe; a dance floor; pool tables; and another bar upstairs. This is a great place to have fun; party and meet some new people.
The Garden - 206 Thames Street. This is one of the most popular nightclubs in town, and is frequented by a mixed crowd of locals. There are pool tables; foosball tables; and they feature live rock music performances most nights of the week. This is the place to go to party and have fun any night of the week.
