Anthony Lakes Ski Information
A unique and unforgetable experience not to be missed is elk viewing at Anthony Lakes. During the Winter months huge herds of Elk migrate to the area and visitors are given the opportunity to take a horse drawn sleigh ride into the midst of the herd with guides explaining the life cycle and history of the Elk. The little town of North Powder is relatively quiet but does have a few restaurants and some shops and about 8 miles west of the town is the Wolf Creek Reservoir Park that has picnic area's, boat ramp and various watersports activities. Le Grande located on the banks of the Grande Ronde River southeast of North Powder along highway 237, is one of the biggest towns in the area and has a number of shops, restaurants, galleries, campgrounds and sports facilities.

The new day lodge at Anthony Lakes has a nice cafe where visitors can take a break from the slopes as well as a lounge area and retail a shop. The best place for a glass of fresh beer is Barley Browns which is the only brewery in the area and has fantastic friendly service as well as good beer and great food. North Powder has a few good cafe's and restaurants and in Le Grande you will also find bars, restaurants, shops and take outs. Try the Le Grande Farmers Market for wonderful fresh regional produce.
Located in the majestic Elkhorn Range of the Blue Mountains, Anthony Lakes with its champagne powder and glacially sculpted peaks has grown into one of the most popular ski areas in Oregon since the 1930's. The resort features the highest base elevation of any ski area in the state and is a free riders dream. Anthony lakes is a good ski resort for the whole family and boasts great terrain at reasonable prices. The resort offers learn to ride programs and equipment hire for novices as well as fantastic snowcat skiing for experts. There is also a snowpark for snowboarders and snowmobile tracks.
