I just spent 2 weeks in NYC, since it was a mix of buisness and pleasure I don't have to much sight seeing storied to tell anyone, but since I am Huge Broadway frick I tried to see a show almost everyday, so here are my short tought about each show- maybe you'll find it helpful :)

The Classics:
Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof & Phantom Of the Opera : while I think that if you'll have to choose between them I would go with The Phantom, but still all are very good productions, off classic shows that are very recommended.

The Funny Ones:
The Producers & Dame Edna: Back with a Vengeance- almost peed in my pants.

The Musicals:
Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Loved them all Hairspray is my first choice but if your going with kids take them to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The Off Broadway:
Stomp was great bit I didn't like Slag Heap. The bad one : Rent - I know many people likes it - I left in the middle - too loud - it feels more like a rock concert and not a Broadway Musical.

Now -another tip is, that for all these shows I was able to get anything between 35% to 50% discount using a very nice I found called www.broadwaybox.com if it wasn't for them I would either go brook or spent all my time in the TKTS lines.

So you don't have to be crazy like me, but do your self a fav, go and catch a Broadway show there is nothing like it :)
