Mount Laurel Local History
The Mount Laurel area was inhabited by the Lenape Indians from around 1400 to 1700. Settlers bought 300 acres from them in the 1680's and settled the town of Mount Laurel. The first post office arrived in 1849 and was housed in the town's general store.
The town was not he sight of any battles during the revolution but was used as a headquarters and hospital for General Washington and the British forces led by General Clinton.
