There are tourist attractions and sightseeing nearby, such as the two historic homes, Healey House and Dexter Cabin, filled with Victorian furniture from the days when Leadville was a booming silver mining town. The Leadville, Colorado and Southern Railway, The Matchless Mine, and the Tabor Home, are all relics from the colourful past of the area. The narrated, scenic ride along the banks of the Arkansas River takes visitors to the historic Victorian depot that is filled with ancient photographs and paraphernalia of the times. Restaurants, bars and shopping are also available.

Overview

Ski CooperÂ’s slopes are not as crowded as some in this area, and there is more individual attention given to beginners and other classes as a result. Skiers can take lessons for adults, children, in groups or privately, as well as learn to snowboard at Ski Cooper. There are also classes for handicapped people who want to learn this magnificent sport, but they are requested to make prior appointment. With 400 acres of lift-served snow, and 2400 served by Snowcat, Telemarkers, Cross-country skiers, Snowboarders, and Snowmobiles will find great terrain in the San Isabel National Forest.
