Fresno Parks & Gardens
Roeding Park - Located on the edge of town. This is a great place to go if you want to take a break from the city amongst the beauty of nature. The park is filled with lakes; many trees; beautiful green lawns; and many flower gardens. The park offers a wide range of facilities, including tennis courts; dance pavillions; horseshoe pits; playgrounds; and many picnic areas with tables and barbecue pits.
Shinzen Japanese Garden - Audubon Drive, Woodward Region Park. THis beautiful Japanese garden is a great place to take the family to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and have some fun in the outdoors. The large park has many traiils that visitors can take a relaxing stroll along, while admiring the beautiful trees and flowers found throughout the park. There are also picnic facilities; playgrounds; and a Japanese tea garden.
Fresno Restaurants and Bars
Maria's Taco Shop - Shaw & West Streets. This is one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in town, and is a great place to go for a quick lunch or dinner. They serve a wide range of excellent Mexican food at reasonable prices. The Enchiladas are the best this side of Mexico.
In and Out Burger - In the centre of town. This is the place in Fresno to go if you're looking to have that all American favourite, the burger. The restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike. They serve a wide range of burgers, as well as other American food.
Santa Fe Hotel - Near the Santa Fe train station. The Basque restaurant located in the hotel is one of the best in Fresno, and is very popular with locals and tourists alike. They serve a wide range of international cuisine. The prices are a little above average, but the excellent food is well worth it.
Fresno Bars & Clubs
Starline - Tower District. This club is one of the best places to go if you want to check out some of the local bands. It is very popular with a mixed crowd of locals, and is a great place to have a few drinks and mingle with the locals.
Club Fred - Tower District. This is another excellent venue to go and check out some live local bands, from metal to folk. The club is very popular with a mixed crowd of locals and the atmosphere is very lively and friendly. This is a great place to go to have a fun evening out, while meeting some of the locals.
On the Rocks - Shaw Avenue and First Street. This is one of the best bars in town and is popular with locals and tourists alike. This is a great place to sit back, have a few drinks and make a whole lot of new friends. If you feel like dancing, the club also has an excellent dancefloor that gets quite busy on weekends.
