General information

The nearest town of Truckee unfortunately does not have too much to offer those who wish to take a break from skiing. Visitors can take a trip to the Northstar at Tahoe Golf Course and indulge in a day of golfing. The course consists of a total playing field of 6,897 yards and features a large amount of water hazards. The Old Truckee Jail Museum is a good place to start off a day of sightseeing. Another place of interest is the Donner Memorial State Park and Emigrant Trail Museum. The museum aims at documenting the tragic history of Donner Party's immigration to the west coast.

Apres-ski

The apre ski scene is very laid-back and relaxed and consists predominantly of a few hotels, a restaurant, a couple of shops and a restaurant which offers visitors a range of excellent traditional US cuisine and fast food. There is also an ice rink, which offers hours of entertainment for the entire family.

The Donner Ski Ranch was first used for skiing in 1937 and is situated on top of the Donner Summit. This is the perfect place to enjoy a fun filled family holiday. The resort features a total of 6 lifts and 50 slopes which are best equipped for intermediates. The resort also caters well for snowboarders with a specialised boarding park. Beginners can make use of their excellent ski school, which is also well equipped for children. The apre ski scene is very relaxed and laid-back and consists mainly of a couple of hotels, a few shops and a restaurant. There is also an ice rink available, which offers hours of entertainment for both young and old.
