The Joe Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge - Experience wildlife in its' natural habitat or from the comfort of a large glass enclosed observatory in the Centre. Self-guided tours are available with displays and films and hiking/biking trails to suit most people. The Refuge encompasses 34,500 acres of naturally preserved woodlands.
Point Mallard Park - The Park contains a scenic 18-hole, par 72-championship golf course and a wooded campground is available to allow visitors to experience a return to nature. Open mid-May through early September.

Big Bob Gibson's Barbecue - 1715 Highway, 31 South and 2520 Danville Road. There is a real pit barbecue in this restaurant, which was judged Best Barbecue Restaurant in Alabama, in 1999.
Simp McGhees - 725 Bank Street. Located in historic Old Decatur, fresh seafood, premium beef and Cajun dishes are on the menu here.
The Brick Deli 209, 2nd Avenue. Located in downtown Decatur, the Deli serves a wide range of sandwiches, salads and desserts. You will find live music here on Fridays and Saturdays.
Hard Dock Cafe Riverwalk Marina. Located on the Tennessee River, the cafe serves crab cakes, blackened catfish, seafood gumbo, and sandwiches and appetizers.
Decatur Bars & Clubs
Cafe 113 - 113 Grant Street. The bars in this establishment are comfortable and friendly with a good selection of drinks, and food.
Wings Sports Grille - 4250 Balmoral Drive, Huntsville. A drive to nearby Huntsville will bring you to this friendly, lively sports bar.
Club Inferno - 3443 Covington Drive, Try this lively club for a good night out.
Eddie's Attic - 515-B North McDonough St. (upstairs). Fridays are a good day to visit Eddie's as happy hour on the patio runs from 5 - 7 pm and free appetizers are on offer.
