Kimberley Ski Information

General information

The Platzl, or small plaza in German, is the prefect place to visit if you have a extra cash to spend. This walking shopping mall packed with shops and restaurants styled after a Bavarian village, is covered by a huge cuckoo clock which is possibly the world's largest. A little bit of a journey away, but well worth the trip, is the Radium Hot Springs with its large outdoor pool tucked under the walls of Sinclair Canyon.

Stemwinder StemwindersÂ’ Bar & Grill has recently been expanded for the upcoming season, it will now feature a full service bar with heated outdoor seating for those that just have to be outside. An expanded sundeck patio for the BBQ cookouts is also located at the base of the resort.

Kimberley is located just 4km outside the town by the same name, in the BC Rockies region of British Columbia. The nearby mountains were originally used for mining purposes and this is reflected in the names of the runs. The town itself is named after the South African mining town of Kimberley. Kimberley's long, sunny, south-facing ridge in the Purcell Mountains offers a decent 700-metre vertical drop, with excellent tree-lined runs and glades for skiers and snowboarders. Although with only 20% of the 67 trails rated as beginner, it stands to reason that the resort is more aimed at the intermediate or expert skier. Private bus services, shuttles and taxi companies run between Kimberley and the hubs of Vancouver and Calgary.
