Don't Worry! I went to Paramaribo for my son's marriage there. My Dr in France was very concerned and wanted me to have all manner of vaccinations together with malaria tablets, he also gave me tablets for stomach upsets etc. My son had already told me I had no need to worry but I felt I had to listen to my G.P. So I wasted a great deal of money on pills and vaccinations - I found the side effects of the malaria tablets unacceptable and ended up throwing all the tablets away. All the residents I met there said there was no risk from Malaria in Paramaribo. Also we didn't have any trouble with food or water there despite eating at all manner of restaurants (and very good it was too!!)
