The website and other information is VERY misleading. It is one of only two hotels in Tacna with a pool and what it calls "suites" so for a splurge we decided to get a suite for our two night stay (s/140=$45). It was absolutely GROSS. The service were not courteous and when we got into the room and saw the bathroom, bedroom, and floor were all grimy and unhygenic and asked them to clean it, they did nothing. they describe the suite and luxurious but I have stayed in super 8s that were WAY nicer! EVerything is run down. the dirty floors are vinyl, the walls are stained, the understocked "minibar" is covered in dirt, there are plastic lawn chairs as the only seating in the room, two pillows on the lumpy bed. It was uncomfortable and I felt I could touch nothing without being infected by previous guests. We had paid upon checkin as asked so we couldn't leave the first day, but did NOT stay a second night. El Dorado Hotel was less expensive and WAY nicer. Don't be fooled by the "amenities" here. The pool was brown and the grounds unkept. Stay Away!

Este hotel fue una decepción total. Todo fue sucio, nada fue bonito, no pareció que hacen NADA para mantenerlo. Parece que quizas en el pasado fue bueno pero ahora nada que ver. El Dorado es MUCHO major y mas barata. Evita este!

Since our arrival only one of the staff members (there were only two people working the main desk, a man and a woman), was available to assist our group. The woman who also worked the main desk, had no customer service manners whatsoever. On our third day of stay, she approached my husband in the lobby, demanding payment 'because our stay was longer than two days' my husband and I didn't understand since we never had to pay in advance, regardless of the stay length. My husband requested an explanation for the demand to what she replied that if he 'had de the money, there was no reason to get offended'. My husband proceeded to cancel the full account and we left the hotel, but before this, he went to speak to the owner of the hotel, basically to complaint about the way in which we were treated. The owner became defensive and instead of apologizing, she defended the employee, and her hotel policies.
Aside from this, the rooms had serious deficiencies, fixtures didn't work properly, toiletries were not provided for our party, when we reported problems, the female clerk at the main desk, questioned the veracity of our claims and finally sent someone to check on the problems. A true nightmare!
