Top Local Tips for Lima
Negotiate With taxi rides in Lima, price varies in soles. Before entering the cab, negotiate the rate before entering. If the rate is too high, then choose another one. The rates may vary by 100-150% depending on the taxi driver. don't feel bad no matter what you pay you're paying more than what the locals do.
The Best Restaurants in Peru I had the privilege of enjoying Peru as the locals due. My fiancés family took us to the best places to eat and I want to share them with you. La Mar - Miraflores Calle Lamar I don’t know the exact address but it’s on the corner of the 7th block. In your trip to Peru you must make it a priority to eat at one of Gaston’s restaurants. He is a world renowned chef featured in Anthony Bordains trip to Peru. The food is amazing, not only the best Peruvian food I’ve had; the best food I had period. The prices are expensive compared to other Peruvian restaurants however, very affordable for US prices. A 3 course lunch for three with quite a few beers came out to 260 soles including a 20% tip. About $87 US. It’s a lunch service so; I think they close at 4PM. I recommend the arroz chalaca and the desert sampler; the arroz con leche is to die for. The dress code is upscale don’t get caught off guard as I did the first time. Gaston & Astrid – Miraflores If you plan to go for dinner at Gaston and Astrid’s, make reservations a couple of days in advanced. I had a hard time getting a reservation and had to settle for 10:30 PM but worth the wait. Extremely Classy place, dress for the occasion. Puente de Suspiro – Barranco This is a place to visit, if you go visit on Saturday or Sunday. They have a street fair in the plaza where they sell every Peruvian dish you can think of. Prices are super cheap and you get to taste a bit of everything. They start around noon try to get their early its hard to get a table. I also recommend the restaurant across from there at night, I don’t know the name but it’s a bluish purple building you can’t miss it they have the best fried doughnuts for a late snack. El Tronco – San Miguel If you want to eat, this is the place to go. The dishes they serve are mountain enough for 3-4 people. Food is great I recommend the Jalea. ICECream If you go to Larcomar mall in Miraflores there is an ice-cream place which servers icecream made out of Peruvian fruits such as chirimoya, and purple corn which you will only find in Peru. Amazing
