From the entrance to the top of the building, the breakfast bar was outstanding!! Super clean, perfect!!

We stayed one night after a long flight and it was worth every penny.

If you travel with somebody with a Peruvian ID or passport, get the reservation under that name, fares are a lot cheaper for locals.

We were charged $175 per night with my husband's american passport. When we got there and showed them my peruvian passport they reduced our fare to $135.

They treated our 2 year old daughter like a royal princess. We are going back this holidays and we will stay in the Marriott again.

It was £200 a night but it was worth it. Ii stayed there for a week I couln't stay any longer but I would have.

Beautiful view of the Pacific

Expected typical business-focused Marriott, found a lot more.
Lovely furnishings, with sublime bedding. Concierge very helpful with restaurant recommendation.

Wonderful hotel and location

I stayed at this hotel only for 1 night, a monday night. It was our last night in south america. After doing to Galapagos Islands, and hiking the inca trail, it was a nice treat to stay there. The beds have wonderfully comfy duvets, and feather pillows. The bathroom was large, with a separate shower and bathtub. There is a blow dryer in the bathroom. We were on the 7th floor, heard very little noise from the street. We had a massage for $60 each, tip is extra. It was a full body massage, it was total bliss. The spa appeared clean, and intimate. We used their "taxis", which are Mercedes Benz and Peugeot. As we were walking through the airport to find the taxi spot, we saw a nicely dressed man holding a "JW Marriott" sign. We told him we had reservations there, and we were able to charge the taxi ride to our room. The ride was $30 each way. We didn't care about the money too much, we were tired, and wanted a safe ride there. Turns out the Mercedes and Peugeots hang out in front of the hotel, to act as classy taxis. It was nice to be able to charge the taxi rides to our room, and save our cash for shopping or other expenses. I did think the breakfast buffet was nicely varied. Would definately stay there again.

Wonderful hotel

This hotel was excellent! The service was very friendly and helpful, and most importantly spoke very good English. The breakfast buffet was extremely varied and of high quality. The service was also what you would expect from any 5-star property throughout the world.

The rooms were elegant, only a little small for the price paid. The bathrooms were very spacious and beautifully detailed.

One of the best features is its location. Directly across from the hotel towards the ocean is a shopping arcade, with everything from a Tony Roma's to a Starbuck's. The other direction is the heart of Miraflores, although I would recommend walking there only during daylight hours.

I would highly recommend this hotel for a wonderful stay in Lima!

Excellent choice

We stayed here two nights. The hotel had a very high level of service and comfort. Its right across the street from the Larco Mar shopping mall and has views of the Pacific Ocean. The hotel and surrounding neighborhood felt safe. One thing I did notice was the sounds of car horns honking at night (Saturday night). It wasn't too bad on the upper floors, but something to consider. The Miaflores Park Hotel (where we also stayed on our trip) was on a more quiet street.

A great property

Have stayed at this property at least 2x month for the past 2 years. It is definitely one of my favorite hotels. I find the checkin staff extremely helpful and friendly (especially Patti, Jacqui and Ursula). You are always addressed by name and made to feel welcome. The rooms are excellent with very large bathrooms and amenities. Rooms are cleaned 2x daily. Personalized service throughout. As stated previously, the bar staff is superb. I always feel like I am home with friends when interacting with the staff. The new sushi bar is great and inexpensive. If you do like room service, you will not be disappointed. The room service staff is top rate, set up your table, adjust the tv should you like to watch while eating, place the dnd on your door, etc. Concierge (Philippe and Nancy)are very knowledgeable and can work miracles with dinner reservations and tour info. Spa has great massages which are very inexpensive and health club is top notch with a variety of classes (complimentary) and trainers for hire.

A great hotel. Staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and I always feel like I am home at this property. Have stayed at Las Americas and Swisshotel as well but this property is head and shoulders above anything else in Lima. You will not be disappointed.

A nice location and pleasing bar

Stayed in the JWM in May for 5 days. This is my fourth time at this hotel. IMO there are some hit and misses with the hotel. In agreement with some earlier posters, I feel that the frontdesk staff sometimes has a bad attitude. Where the bar staff is just the complete opposite. Very nice and helpful. Speaking of the bar it has a very nice 2 for 1 Happy Hour which even include high end liquor and martinis. The breakfast buffet ($20) was very good. I didn't eat at the steak restaurant as it seemed expensive. About $30 per steak. The sushi at the bar was good and priced well.
The Hotel is in a great location with many great places to eat with a $3 cab ride. The only drawback is the price. $215 offseason and $285 during my last trip in May.

I stayed at this Hotel 3 times already not just because of the magnificent view all rooms have (either you are in the 1st or 24th floor) ocean view, beautiful mall, nice rooms, but also because of the great attention and service my husband and my two boys - 12 and 16 received. Lots to do - boys played tennis while I had the most wonderful massage on earth for 1 hour and 30 minutes for $45.00 what a pricel! Food is great - gourmet - international and delicious peruvian food. I am going again in June and I can't wait to get there and be treated like a Queen without paying additional for view, floor, weekends, etc.

Although the staff seems like they have their noses up in the air this is a wonderful hotel. All the rooms have magnificent ocean rooms. These rooms are 5 stars all the way. After some gruelling experiences this was a nice change. We paid their benchmark rate $285/night (did not even include breakfast) and although this is quite a bit for Peru, I was not dissappointed in what I was given. Their medical staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Their doctor referred and drove us to an excellent pediatrician and made calls ahead of time to be seen at the British-American clinic. He saved our trip and helped our 2 year old. He was there from start to finish, taking us in his own car. My only concern was the attitude about the not so great looking street taxis coming to the hotel and instead having them drop people off on the street sidewalk instead of the front doors. Would revisit though. Very close to the center of Miraflores, 7 blocks or so. Walkable.

Best Hotel in Lima

The JW Marriott is the ideal hotel in Lima. Perfect location, right on the ocean, directly across the street from the LarcoMar (tons of shops, restaurants, bars) and in the heart of Miraflores, the cosmopolitan district of Lima.

The hotel is essentially a Ritz Carlton property. All of the amenities, services, and style you'd expect from a Ritz, only with the JW Marriott name. The room was clean, new, with a huge marble bathroom and unconstructive view of the Pacific.

When my fiancé got food poisoning, the hotel had an English speaking, Stanford educated doctor to our room within 15 minutes (and it was a weekend, no less!). He diagnosed her and had prescription antibiotics delivered to the room within 5 minutes. A reassuring service when you're in a foreign place like Lima.

Overall, I highly recommend the JW Marriott. You could stay at the Country Club Hotel but you're stuck in San Isidro. All of the action is right outside your door at the Marriott and the property is truly 5 star.

Sleeping like a rock ... on a rock

Just reading some reviews, I remember that infamous bed, hardest bed on earth. The hotel is perfectly ok but the beds were terrible. It was bearable only because I was exhausted after more than 12h in a plane and business meetings.

I couldn't see much of the city or the hotel but, it seemed all ok. The taxis at the door were very handy, you can charge the fare to your room bill. This is not however a plus, later during the day I realised that this is standard service in any five-star hotel in Lima.

Location and view are superb, true, but the nearby hotel MPH (orient express) has got it all too, except the hard beds I hope.

Top Local Tips for Lima

Restaurants I went out every night the best places were:La trattoria, Astrid y Gaston, Cala, La Gloria. Osaka for sushi the place it is not the best, La Huaca beautifull set but horrible food.

accomodations at the airport I would recommend getting transfers set up from the airport to the hotel if you are arriving late at night and your hotel offers them. It makes the trip start so much easier-

Getting quality transportation around Lima Stay with reputable taxis around Lima. Green Taxi at the airport is courteous, and their prices are posted on placards they carry to various Lima destinations. You pay a small, higher premium versus the independent taxis but they are known to be safe. Also if you plan on seeing multiple Lima locations, e.g. Plaza Mayor, Cathedral, etc...you can negotiate an all-day taxi where the taxi driver will take you to the various locations for a flat fee, which can be considerably cheaper than having the hotel taxi services ($60+) versus ($20-$30).
