Hotel Esperanza

Hotel Esperanza has an unbeatable location in Lima, in the Miraflores areas, withing walking distance of shops and some of Lima's most important tourist areas. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. It is definitely a great value!

A very nice hotel

from Deviajealfin
The hotel is perfectly located in Miraflores, near everything: museums, restaurants, stores, Larco Avenue, just a few minutes from the center of the city and from Barranco. The area is very safe. The room was spotless, as well as the bathroom, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The driver, Germán, was also very nice and was always on time. I recommend this hotel to have a very pleasant stay in Lima.

Personalized service

Hotel Esperanza represents what we found to be so special about Peru -- the people are so lovely and helpful and have such pride in their country that they go out of their way to make sure that your experience there is a great one. Max was just wonderful! On our only night that we had enough time to walk around Lima, Max directed us on a short walk from the hotel that gave us a taste of the city and ended at a unique dinner/dance experience.

The transportation to and from the airport was highly dependable, even at the very early and late hours we needed. Our driver, Javier, took us a different route through the city all six times (which was wonderful for us given our much too short stays in Lima) providing us with the opportunity to see the diversity and beautiful neighborhoods of Lima.

We recommend the hotel without reservation and we will always have fond memories of our time (albeit too short) in Lima and our time spent with Max.

Excellent Service at Hotel Esperanza

Hotel Esperanza is within comfortable walking distance of historical huaca Pucllana, modern shopping facilities and a wide variety of good quality restaurants. Excellent trips were arranged for us to the museum of gold, a traditional Peruvian song and dance show(Brilliant)and a city tour. I was impressed by the honesty of staff who handed in personal belongings I had left in my room and went to great lengths to have them returned to me.

Good hotel if you are on a tight budget, or you are transiting to Cuzco

from A TripAdvisor Member
Hotel Esperanza is in a convenient, safe and relatively quiet location two blocks away from Miraflores main square. The street of the hotel is deserted at night, but during the day it has a lot of little shops open, including many jewellery shops, and it is relatively secure to walk there both day and night, though you should always be careful – this is Peru. Most people would agree that Miraflores is the safest and cleanest part of Lima, but it still has a long way until it matches the standards we are used to enjoying in developed countries.

The accommodation is good value for the price, the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. However, don’t expect anything fancy, in particular the bathroom and TV are very small - this is a reasonable hotel if you are on a tight budget, or you are transiting to Cuzco. The hotel staff are friendly, though only the manager, Max (see Maximus on TripAdvisor) speaks English well enough to be able to carry on a conversation. The continental breakfast is hearty, but we have had much better variety in Cuzco for the same price level.

The taxi service provided by the hotel is reliable, it will meet you in the arrivals area at the airport, and transfer you to the hotel for US$15, though there is no way to escape the horrendous traffic. Alternatively, you could take an official taxi from the airport for only US$10, and the same applies for the return trip.

A Find

My wife and I recently returned from a visit to Peru, flew in and out of Lima. and briefly toured Lima. Hotel Esperanza was clean, comfortable, pretty quiet, if a bit spartan. Good location in Miraflores and incredibly helpful staff - arranging airport transport [like at 4 AM!], tours, restaurant recommendations etc. with a world class restaurant 2 blocks away [Astrid y Gaston]. Highly recommended!

My home in Lima!

This was my second stay at Hotel Esperanza. I stayed in the smallest room available and it was large enough and quite comfortable for me. The location seems a little scary at first -- the lonely 2 block walk to the main section of Miraflores was intimidating after dark until I realized that it was a jewelry store area and there was security personnel everywhere! I never felt the least bit threatened or worried at any time of day or night -- it was VERY safe.

The beds were comfortable and it was nice to be able to watch a number of English-speaking channels (including CNN and several movie channels like HBO), though I didn't spend much time in the room.

As every other reviewer has pointed out, the staff is friendly and wonderful. They genuinely seem happy to have you stay with them and like visiting with guests. I had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Max, on my last stay and he is representative of everyone there -- friendly, helpful, and a very good person.

The hotel is 2 blocks from the cosmopolitan center of Lima in Miraflores. You can walk to the major shopping areas, find any kind of restaurant from fast food to trendy nightspots to a British pub, visit the beach, or explore a pre-Inca ruin (in the middle of the city) -- all withing walking distance of the hotel. A short and inexpensive taxi ride can take you anywhere esle in Lima.

Mostly because of Max and the great people who work there, Hotel Esperanza is the ONLY place I'll stay on future trips to Lima. While not fancy, it is one of my favorite hotels anywhere in the world.

This hotel is entirely overrated! I can't believe people are putting down 4-5 stars and that this is the number one rated hotel. I think someone is falsely elevating the niceness of this hotel. It is indeed in Miraflores and close walking distance to some jewelry stores. However, the rooms were extremely bland and the bathrooms were very small. We were looking to just stay here one night before leaving for Cusco so we didn't care so much, but I'd say to spend a little bit more and get a nicer place. I will admit that the staff was extremely friendly.

We recommend it

from A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I have recently spent a few days in Lima at the beginning of our trip through Peru’: we stayed at the Hotel Esperanza.

We definitely recommend this hotel to whoever looks for a clean and safe place to stay, without the fancy frills but with all the necessary commodities, at a moderate price.

It is well located in a comparatively lovely (Lima is not particularly attractive from a purely aestetical point of view) and safe (a number of jewlery stores are nearby) neighborhood. Just 200 yards from the Oval of Miraflores (the buzzy center of this artsy section of Lima), it is nonetheless on a quite street, which keeps the noise down to a very reasonable level (a rarity in Lima)

An abundand continental breakfast is included in the price and there is plenty of side orders. Coffee is excellent.

The performance/price ratio is definitely very high.

However, we feel that the best quality of this hotel is its staff: all the people working at hotel esperanza are extremely nice and really try hard to be helpful (although we must say that we hardly came across anybody in Peru’ who wasn’t friendly and helpful as well). We had to change our plans for the rest of our trip through the country and Max (the manager) was extremely efficient in arranging things for us.

Hopefully we’ll soon go back to Peru’: when this happens, we’ll surely go back to the Hotel Esperanza.

Excellent hotel we loved it!

from Heidihig
We stayed in the Hotel Esperanza for 4 days. We stayed in 2 different places in Lima before the Esperanza and we found the hotel to be well above the standard than any of the other hotels.

The staff, the location, the price, the room and the movie channels were all excellent.

If we return to Lima, we would definately stay again.
