Great location for exploring Miraflores

We enjoyed our stay at the Antigua. The room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the Free Trade store in the lobby. The hotel is small and quaint with a dining room that is filled with character and artwork.

Nice hotel - a few hiccups

We booked the hotel directly. After initially e-mailing them through their website request form, I got a reply letting me know details of the available rooms for our date. I responded confirming which room we would like and details of our flight times (for free pickup). I didn't receive any response and e-mailed a few more times before deciding to phone instead.

When we arrived at the airport the taxi wasn't there to pick us up. After waiting a while we called the hotel who sent a taxi at that stage - so we had to wait about 30 minutes (very late at night) before it arrived.

However, once we arrived at the hotel everything was great. We loved the room. It was at the front of the hotel and perhaps a little noisy, but we were so tired after our long flight it didn't bother us, however if I was going again I would book (and yes I would stay there again) a room at the back. The breakfast was lovely too.

The best Cason/Hotel in Miraflores

Antigua Miraflores is a very beautiful Spanish Colonial Cason turned hotel. Guest rooms surround a beautiful court yard garden. Antigua Miraflores is situated nearby points of interest, such as: Larcomar (great for shopping/eating and relaxing walk, located right above the beach and extremely safe at night), Parque del Amor, Museo de Oro, a 10+ minute taxi ride to Lima's Plaza de Armas,etc. and 30 minutes from airport.
The staff was charming, helpful and available to answer questions at any time of day. If you need a taxi, the staff will get one right away . They also helped me print out my boarding passes in their office because the PC's for customers do not have printers.
The rooms were extremely clean and there was always plenty of hot water. You could rest at any time of the day because it was extremely quiet throughout the hotel.
Breakfast was quite good and it was cooked to order, not buffet.
Service, cleanliness, and rooms are 4 stars for me.
I will stay at Antigua Miraflores the next time I visit Lima.

Hotel Antigua Miraflores- quaint hotel

My family (myself, husband and 2 girls- age 1 & 3) stayed at Hotel Antigua for two nights upon arriving in Lima and the night before leaving Peru for home in January 2004. The hotel was very quaint (it's an old mansion) and located on a nice quiet street in Miraflores. We had a nice room on the top floor/rooftop which had a nice view of city. The rooms were clean and the staff very friendly. The morning breakfast was included and was always delicious. The hotel also had a small gift shop. The staff were great with our kids, they always made a big fuss over them.

The hotel was located a few blocks off the main streets of Miraflores but it was easy to walk downtown to the shops and restaurants. We ate at a wonderful Peruvian restaurant around the corner, Las Brujas de Cachiche. Another night we ate downtown at a great Italian restaurant, La Trattoria di Mambrino. Walking to and from the hotel at night was safe, but taxis are available if you want one. The hotel will be happy to arrange a taxi for you.

Prior to our trip, we had arranged pick up and drop off at the airport in Lima. They were happy to do so and were there on time waiting for us.

We took a taxi to dowtown Lima one day to watch the changing of the guard at the Palace. We enjoyed walking around the Plaza de Armas and going the the Convento y Museo de San Francisco. If you want handmade leather shoes made especially for you, you can be measured at the beginning of your trip and pick them up a week later for a very reasonable price.

A sanctuary in Lima

I stayed at the Antigua Miraflores with my teenage son for several pre- and post- overnights as part of a GAP tour group and we were absolutely delighted with the hotel facilities and service.

The main part of the hotel was originally a mansion house and has a charming lobby with tiled floors and antique furniture and trimmings. There is rich dark woodwork everywhere and beautiful artwork adorns the walls (most of it is for sale). An inner courtyard with a fountain, together with a couple of peaceful balconies and a terrace, provide peaceful sanctuary for taking a relaxing break from the busy streets and noise of the Miraflores neighborhood and Lima. Or you can just relax on the comfortable sofa in the lobby, watching the housemaids cleaning the windows and dusting the ornaments, easily imagining what it must have been like as someone's elegant home.

Our room (#29), which overlooked the courtyard and fountain, was very clean and comfortable with twin beds, cable TV, antique furniture and an immaculately tiled bathroom with brass and white porcelain fittings. We were very happy with it. A cooler with a supply of free purified water was provided at the end of the hall.

The staff at the hotel reception were very courteous and helpful in fullfilling all our needs, offering advice on where to go and organizing tours. The staff in the small dining room were also charming and friendly, not missing a beat as they rapidly respond to your requests. The breakfasts were particularly good, with excellent scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, good strong coffee and delicious crusty warm bread and preserves.

There are a couple of PCs available for internet access in the lobby, as well as a gem of a store that supports 'fair trade' by selling some exceptionally beautiful work by local artisans at very reasonable prices.

The hotel is just a short walk to many fine restaurants and only a little bit further walk to the Pacific Ocean.

All in all, it would be hard to imagine a more delightful place to stay while in Lima. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I return to Lima.

Best hotel in Miraflores

This is the place to stay if you are visiting Lima. It is located in the Miraflores district which is a very nice neighborhood with a place called Larco Mar very close where they have dancing, movies and restaurants. The staff here is wonderful and eager to please. The hotel was clean and comfy. We would have stayed here on our way out of Lima but there was no rooms available. I would reccommend this place to anyone and everyone!

Best hotel on trip to Peru

Had a great stay at the Antigua, by far the best hotel during our 2 weeks in Peru. The staff was great, very helpful and we loved the art work. Very quaint and lots of character. Not for those looking for a generic marble and glass hotel. Good location near many good restaurants. Gives you a real feeling of being in Peru.

Suprisingly good

We stayed here as the meeting point on an Organised Tour and were not expecting much. We were so delighted to see what we got. The staff are really friendly and let us store bags at no charge for the two week duration of the trip. The rooms were lovely and had antique furniture. Because the rooms are based around a courtyard there might be noise, but on a whole I found the place charming.

A word of warning though, they did bump our group on the last night of our trip and we ended up in a very very grotty hotel.

And if you don't have breakfast included it's a complete rip off! (but if you do then it's small but tasty)

I would recommend this hotel for people overnighting in Lima, it's charming.

Four of us shared a room at this quaint little hotel just steps from the heart of Miraflores. The staff were very accommodating, particularly when one of our travellers was ill and needed to sleep all day in the room. Our request for a late check-out was exceptionally fair.
While some of the amenities of the hotel were slightly worn (quite fitting actually, given the name of the hotel), the bedding and linens were exceptional and quite comfortable. The staff were gracious and friendly and the location can't be beat--just a few minutes walk from the bustling center of Miraflores yet quiet and relaxing at the hotel.
Breakfast service was efficient, the food delicious and the service was unbeatable. The driver (Amilcar) that was arranged for pickup from the hotel was also great. We ended up hiring him for our entire stay and he proved to be a great tour guide for all of our jaunts around the city.

Japanese Fusion Food in Lima Small but exclusive Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant - Edo Sushi Bar (corner of Berlin & Bolognesi). No sign outside, but you can recognize it as a restaurant. Delicate, new and innovative food. Elegant place.

Stay in Miraflores during your stay in Lima Lima is a large city with about 8 million inhabitants. Travelers should be careful about safety while there and Miraflores is a safe area . It is quite beautiful, encompasses a beautiful walk along the cliffs above the Pacific, and is a wonderful gathering place for Peruvians. One gets a feeling of belonging while in Miraflores. Restaurants and shops abound including a large mall with trendy shops in the area of the Marriott Hotel towers. Keep in mind that it is about 40 minutes from the airport during traffic and about 25 without. The cab fare is 40 soles ( about 12 USD at an exchange rate of 3.1)

Cost for cabs Be sure to ask how much a taxi ride is going to cost before you get in the cab. The price varies greatly and you definitely want to know how much you'll be paying ahead of time.
