Save Money - Vacation in Quito Would like to mention that the currency used in Quito is the dollar. From the start, this makes it easier to make decisions about spending. There is a WIDE range of hotel accommodations, and we read about a number of them charging from $50 down to $10 a night. Granted, you'd have to see the lowest price ones before booking one. We chose a hotel for $47/night and it was a good value. The Mariscal and Floresta neighborhoods have some lower priced hotels and are known as good, safe neighborhoods for tourists. We found many decent cafes and restaurants with amazingly low prices. At one cafe we paid under $2 for bottled water, a regular coffee, and an interesting Ecuadorian corn cake dessert. Clothes and many handcrafts were also amazingly inexpensive. If you want to balance out your time in Ecuador with an expensive adventure, we heard that a visit to the Galapagos Islands is the way to go.

first week of December First week of December is the Festival Of Quito - an excellent time to visit this charmng city and see the locals celebrate thier town - unexpected musical concerts, bull fights, dancing, soccer/ futbol, and general celebrations abound!
