I love everything about Hotel Quito. It's affordable, the food is great, and excellent customer service!

You have to remember that Quito is a noisy city, so it's nearly impossible to not hear any noise from your hotel room.
Everytime I travel to Quito I stay there. I just love it!

We were booked into the Hotel Quito on Suarez Gonzalez in Quito by our travel agent. We prepaid. When we arrived, there was no record of our reservation. The hotel tried to charge us again. Burned out lightbulbs, bath fixtures that rattled on the wall, showers that backed up and the door to the balcony with the so falled "beautiful view" was bolted shut. Erwin Dominguez, one of the clerks, double charged us for breakfast. He acknowledged his mistake, then refused to refund our money. Jesus Sanchez is suppose to be the manager. He is absent most of the time. The location of this hotel is not special. The view is not worth the shoddy service.

Restaurant near Hotel Quito Many restaurants close fairly early but we were pleasantly surprised by "Hunters" right across the street....we stayed until midnight!!

Old Town Make sure you take a guided tour around the old town during the day time.It's fascinating.Also don't miss El Panecillo- a fantastic view of the city.

October means variable weather and take it easy with Altitude Bring layers and prepare for tank top heat since the sun is really hot that high up even in the winter AND when the clouds come in, and they do many times throughout the day, make sure you have layers and an umbrella since the cold chill goes straight to your bones and the rain can whip in unpredictably - 4 seasons in a day! Also, remember that Quito is 10,000 feet above sea level. High altitude will impact different people in different ways, but give yourself a couple of extra days to take it slow and easy and acclimatize. Our first morning, after going through the buffet, we sat down at our table, looked at each other and said, "that was exhausting!" Really, don't ruin your trip by trying to do too much on the first couple of days. Let your body adjust.
