The best place to stay and eat

Termas de Cauquenes is the best place to stay and eat that my husband and I have ever been. We are world travelers and enjoyed Chile tremendously with the highlight being Termas de Cauquenes. The rooms are very nice, but it is the food and scenery that makes it the best. It is owned by two chefs who will surpass any taste expectations with 10 course meals at dinner. Deffinitely take the half or full pension option to eat dinner at the hotel. The hotel is located in the Andes foothills on the edge of a cliff overlooking a river and surrounded by eucalyptus trees. With the hot springs, pool, tennis courts, extensive park along the ravine, and hiking trails in the nearby national park. The staff goes above and beyond. I really cannot express how much we loved Termas de Cauquenes.

The Termas has been our destination for many years when we travel to Chile. It has old world charm with modern conveniences in an historic setting only a little over an hour from Santiago.

Rene and Sabina Aklin's table is not found anywhere else in Chile. Gourmet foods with Rene's sources and both of their preparation skills combine for a memorable dining experience. I will not belabor the obvious i.e., excellent wine list, stunning setting, cleanliness and etc. If one goes to the Termes de Cauquenes one will have the best offered in Chile with most local foods prepared, cured, smoked and cooked onsite.

Add to this the mineral baths, massage, private park for walking and proximity to Santiago and the wine production areas of Colchagua, Curico and Rancagua and the beach area of Pichilemu one has depth that can keep one occupied for a week.

It is great to escape California's winter to be in Chile's summer and to experience true gourmet foods, wines and baths. Try it you will not regret it.
