Ritz-Carlton is superb

from Steph2727
We recently returned from a stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Santiago. Our stay could not have been better. We were on one of the club floors. The amenities were wonderful. From the well planned breakfast in the club lounge to the little snacks served late afternoon and the evening dessert treats it was unexpected but made a big impression. The club staff lead by Ms. Rodriguez were very well informed and extremely helpful. The room was large, nicely appointed and very clean. The car service from the hotel was excellent. The luxury cars were very nice and the drivers well spoken. We had a wonderful stay and would return to Santiago just to stay there again.

Great Hotel better staff

from A TripAdvisor Member
The hotel lobby rooms etc were great. All of our luggage was lost and the staff there went out of their way to help with locating and forwarding our luggage to a future location when it arrived. The location of this hotel and quality of the rooms etc was outstanding. Then when you take into consideration the cost it is even more desirable.
I do not believe you can be disappointed. I am surprised to see some of our Brit friends say anything but good things about this hotel.

Good but not the best Ritz Carlton

from A TripAdvisor Member
This is certainly a fine hotel; however, we have been at many more better Ritz Carlton. We are AMEX centurium members and often given upgrades on accomodations, but this time our upgrades were really average, and although we had access to the concierge club, our rooms were not on that floor which was an inconvenient. Also, the food at restaurants was good, but we had better meals at other renowned restaurants in Santiago. The service was nice, but often the concierge and staff had certain arrogance that I didn't quite understand, particularly towards Americans. We speak spanish fluently without any accent; therefore, I could tell the difference when they were talking to other Americans with whom we were traveling with. So far this is supposed to be the best hotel in Santiago, and certainly it is pretty good; however, do not expect it to match other Ritz Carlton standards. In addition, if you are visiting Santiago, I suggest to spend two or three days there, but more than that can get quite boring leaving you stuck in the hotel.

t want it to end

I am currently staying in Ritz-Carlton, Santiago. Just finished breakfast on the club level and now I am sitting here, sipping my tea and enjoying free WIFI. Oh, it is just marvellous.
I arrived yesterday after travelling for 25 hours from Estonia and when I saw the hotel I was frankly, stunned. It is a beautiful building, built of red bricks. And do pay the extra 60 USD for executive floor. It is just amazing, 5 coctail hours per day, plus complimentary drinks all day. It is very peaceful, a bit outside the centre, which makes it quiet.
As mentioned before, the gym, spa and pool is wonderful. It is on the top floor and definitely visit it during the sunset.
I still have 3 days left and i am getting a treatment this evening. I hope it all remains the same and I strongly reccomend this hotel to anybody, willing to pay the price.

Great place to relax

We started our South American holiday at the Ritz-Carlton. We were persuaded at check-in to take the US$60 a day Executive upgrade, which was probably worth it. It includes breakfast, plus drinks and nibbles/meals all day long. You didn't need to go anywhere else, but of course we did. Room 1016 was noisy, as it was near the service lift, so best avoid that one. Also, don't bother to ask about transportation, taxis, etc. Just use coaches and the metro, and there are plenty of regular taxis outside. Room, etc, great. Very soft, sweet smelling bed, separate shower, loo and bath. All you'd expect. The pool was OK, but there were steam baths, etc as well.

Loved the Ritz!

We loved this hotel. The service was excellent. The pool has a great view of the city and the Andes. The room was gorgeous and the bathroom was nice and
well-equiped (two sinks,a big shower,a bath and separate toilet). The breakfast was OK (but it liked an European breakfast and we prefer American breakfast).Best choice in Santiago!

Very Lazy Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
We were booked to stay 4 nights at this hotel Having read various reviews it sounded perfect. Unfortunately when we arrived I had a bad stomach infection and had to stay in bed. The room we were offered was on the 7th floor facing the main road. We asked to move to a higher floor (there being 14 floors in total) not so close to the road and the noise from the traffic and were told by various staff that they would get back to us but the only availablity was an Exec Suite at an additional $180 per night. After being fobbed off and our calls never returned for a whole day, we decided to check out and move to the Hyatt. Only at this stage did one of the Managers try to resolve the problem. She advised that there were plenty rooms spare as the hotel was mostly empty!! Obviously the previous staff we spoke to could not be bothered to assist so we checked out. The Manager was very apologetic and offered a free night etc but the damage had been done.
We were extremely dissappointed by this hotel and the low level of service. We were also not offered menus at breakfast for the hot food, however people around us were. This happened twice. Very slack. Hopefully the hotel will learn from this and the arrogant, rude & slack attitude of some of the staff will not be allowed to continue.

Nice but pricey

from Wogo
Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms and an excellent location for sightseeing (1 block from metro). Management also provided a surprise birthday cake. Only criticism is that the rooms are somewhat small -- similar rooms at the Sheraton San Cristobal Tower are equally impressive and larger.

Fantastic, Charming Too

We enjoyed our stay at The Ritz together with our small children. Great location, comfortable, fair pricing. Great hotel taxi drivers, very nice people.

Never imagined Santiago was so nice when compared to other South American cities. Excellent seafood.

Looking forward to return.

Marvelous hotel!!

Since me and my fiancée arrived at Ritz we were pampered and treated like royalty. They gave us exactly the room we expected, with a magnificent view of the city and Cerro San Cristóbal. Unfortunately it was rainy in the first days but with all that Ritz ofered us, we didn't felt to any complains. First of all, they have a really charming SPA center, with a warm and relaxing jacuzzi, a nice pool and great massage treatments. The lobby and the bar are tastely decorated; the ADRA Restaurant serves exquisite drinks and food, and all the employees, from the concierge to the waiters, were kind and efficient.
The last night was especially great, 'cause they made us a surprise dinner and even the 'Chef' came to talk to us and wish us good.
We left with a nostalgic feeling and the desire to return soon.

Top Local Tips for Santiago

Porto Fuy One of my best seafood dining experiences ever - don't miss Porto Fuy! Amazing ceviche, tons of interesting seafood to try, fantastic wine list and impeccable service.

Great Seafood in V Informal Setting Ostras Bordo Negro offers superb seafood in a very basic setting in their basement. If it's the quality of the food that matters and not the setting, we would highly recommend this interesting and friendly place at Antonio Ballet N° 35, Providencia - Santiago (02-235-1345).

restaurant to check out there is a lovely restaurant at the top of the hill where the funicular/zoo are. white table cloth extraordinary views....surprising because there are otherwise tourist trap things on that hill
