Wonderful boutique hotel

Based on the reviews on TripAdvisor, we stayed at the Hotel Orly following our South American cruise. We reserved a queen room for two nights. The staff spoke English and was both courteous and helpful. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained. Although we had prearranged tours of the city, the hotel can book tours. A very nice breakfast is included in the price of the room.

The hotel is located just off a main street that offers a wide variety of shopping. We walked the streets around the hotel without the slightest concern about our safety. There are a number of small restaurants located at the entrance of the hotel and immediately next to the hotel.

We were totally satisfied with our stay and highly recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a hotel with various self-contained venues and a wide variety of services this is not the hotel for you. However, if you are looking for a small, quiet, boutique hotel with a European ambiance this is the place!

Great place deep in the heart of middle class Santiago. Nice cafe overlooking neighborhood street--has good Pisco Sours. Atrium in back for breakfasts. English bookstore up the street with limited selection. Simple rooms, pleasant staff.

We just returned from a trip to Chile and completely enjoyed our stay at the Orly. It's located in a beautiful and safe area and the service was superb. We stayed in a junior suite overlooking Pedro deValdivia...so bring some earplugs or ask for a room toward the back. We had a marvelous stay.

Excellent hotel, really friendly and helpful staff and management, splendid location in Providencia, neat & tidy, own internet cafe round the corner, good breakfast. The hotel is quite small though and the rooms and common areas are on the small side but otherwise exemplary for the money.

The Hotel Orly was truly a memorable part of our trip. It is small, charming and impeccably run. The staff can take care of every need and arranged for two days of a car and English speaking driver at very reasonable rates.

Loved the Orly

We just spent a week at Hotel Orly and loved every minute of it. The hotel feels like someone's home. Every member of the staff was so helpful and friendly. We couldn't get over how they went out of their way to arrange tours, taxis, and other reservations for us. The General Manager was extremely inviting and remembered our names on our first day there. We stayed in a suite that over-looked the street below. Our room was spacious and clean and we received turn-down service every night.

Hotel Orly is in a great location...right in the heart of great restaurants, terrific shopping and the metro station. Also, it's only a short walk to Parque Metropolitano. Right outside the hotel is a great little cafe (Cafetto) with delicious food and great service. It was our favorite place to grab a bite to eat and have a bottle of wine.

We chose to take a couple of day tours with Tourista Tours and thought the prices were cheaper than the company that the hotel recommended.

If you have the opportunity to visit Santiago, we highly recommend staying at Hotel Orly. It's a nice alternative to a big chain hotel.

My stay at the Orly was exceptional. The staff is wonderful. Warm, personal and our every need was met. All we had to do was ask. Breakfast was lovely. There was tea, coffee and cookies all afternoon. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Located near great shopping and many cafes on block of hotel and an excellent one in the hotel. One of the best hotel experiences I have ever had.

My recent stay at the Orly Hotel was lovely! The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff (english speaking) was always exceptionally pleasant and helpful. There was delicious breakfast buffet served everyday in a beautiful breakfast room and greenhouse. The decor is elegant yet comfortable. The ambiance of the facility is wonderful but I will reiterate what made my stay so pleasant was the staff of the hotel. They arranged a lovely reception for my sister's birthday party, they arranged tours for our group of 9 with "About Chile". Our driver Patro and our guide Chris were great and would recommend a tour (or two or three) during your stay at the Orly.

Ok - Very Noisy Rooms Up Front

We stayed at The Orly In a Jr Suite Overlooking the Street. Room Was small but clean. Bathtub was too small for a bath. There was a lot of street noise. Ask for a room in the back. Breakfast was good. The desk staff as pretty disorganized - it took them 1/2 an hour to get us checked out and to hold our bags. Luckily we weren't in a hurry.

We stayed at the Hotel Orly on Easter Monday. We arrived early in the day and they checked us in and stored our luggage so we could explore the city unhampered. They were especially helpful with arranging a rental car. The room was above average but nothing special and the hotel was a little hard to find. From the hotels in Chile that we've seen this one was the best by far.

Top Local Tips for Santiago

Santiago restaurants We had two outstanding dinners at Liguria which has one of its three locations just a couple of doors up the street from the Hotel Orly where we stayed. It is extremely popular, so go very late or expect to wait for a table. Outdoor seating is available. The meals we had were “comfort food” and were very flavorful with large portions. The Chilean olive oil they served on the table was some of the best we had ever tasted with a unique grassy flavor. Desserts (and most portions of food was had in Santiago) were gigantic and good, if not spectacular. I enjoyed the leche asado which was a type of flan. You should definitely have at least one meal at Liguria if the menu appeals to you. We had excellent seafood lunches at the Mercado Central on two occasions eating at both Donde Augusto and Joya de la Pacifica. Donde Augusto is better known and more popular, but the food was equally good at both and was much cheaper at Joya de la Pacifica. We had a very disappointing dinner at the Peruvian restaurant El Otro Sitio in Bellavista. One of us had the most delicious stuffed pepper appetizer, but it was all down hill from there. The waiter was extremely cold, if not hostile, and unhelpful even thought one of us was a native Spanish speaker. I’m not sure what the waiter’s problem was. Excellent pisco sours, though. Our best South American fine dining experience was at Astrid y Gaston which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Excellent food prepared with attention to detail, great wine selection and recommendations by the sommelier, and exquisite desserts which should at least be sampled even if you do not ordinarily indulge in desserts. Some of them require additional preparation time, so you would need to order one of those at the start of your meal.

Avoid the American Chains Why go all that way to stay at a North American hotel when you can stay at a small, locally owned hotel that has the amenities you'd expect at a much more reasonable price.

wineries Local buses are the easiest way to get to major wineries, many within 30 miles of downtwon Santiago. It's not necessary to pay $75 per person for transport when you can take a reasonablt comfortable bus for less than $5--round trip.
