This best hiddeen secret in Santiago is in a lovely neighborhood, safe and close to everything by foot and with good access to transportation. The service is terrific. The building could use a bit of TLC; but for the price one can overlook chipped paint. The restaurant is very good and open late at night. I am going back!

The Foresta is opposite a lovely historical park and 10 min walk from the Plaza des Armas. Its older style rooms are nearly all tiny suites, with a small sitting room plus bedroom and bathroom. Not all of the staff speak English, but they are friendly and obliging. There is a bar next door and a corner grocery (water, biscuits, fruit, yoghurt, wine) 2 min away. The rooms are a bit noisy as Victoria Subercaseaux is a busy street until late at night. Breakfast costs extra and is nothing special. A very cute, convenient hotel!
