A 2* star hotel masquerading as a 4*

Billed as the 'best' hotel in Osorno, but sadly lacking in many areas. To give you an idea of the level of service I've now started to expect (been there for 2 weeks, going to have to stay one week more), I was ecstatic when I came back to my room to find that they'd finally replaced the light bulb outside my door, allowing me to see the door lock for the 1st time in a week. When I go down to breakfast at 7:15, I have to switch on the lights. Food in Osorno is generally excellent- not so at the Garcia. Breakfast is interesting to say the least, especially at the weekends. The first day I was there, they had some ham and cheese but no bread. There was no water for coffee or tea. They eventually bought out some cut up fruit and some lemon pie. I tried to get some laundry done today- no laundry bag- when I asked at reception they gave me an old supermarket carrier bag with a hole in the bottom, which managed to hold about half my laundry. If this was billed as a 2* hotel, I'd understand, and probably accept it, but it's not- and they charge 4* prices! As for the olympic style swimming pool, fully equipped gym, choice of restaurants- where do you think you are- a 4* start in Santiago?
