Top Local Tips for Hanga Roa

Stay for as long as you can! It's a small island, but it has so much to offer. We stayed for 5 days and could easily have stayed for longer.

General tip Take cash with you (the petrol station at the top of the main street) has the best exchange rates. Easter Island is very expensive (due to its location) and dinners will cost from about US$20 each - without drinks)

Easter Island A great location for people interested in the history of Polynesia, clan rivalries and warfare, changing religions and the huge stone moai that litter the island. OK for well-behaved children who are old enough to appreciate the island and its history. Access could be difficult for the handicapped.
