Top Local Tips for Salvador
transfers to airport find out if the hotel runs a transfer bus, it is much cheaper than a taxi. Also give yourself time as the traffic is busy on the roads all the time and so transfer (without stopping at other hotels) still can take 40 minutes.
A spicy city More than any touristic spot, I found the Salvador cuisine something to be remembered. The people there are extremely talk-active, nice and helpful. Obviously care need to be taken. But do not leave Salvador before going to Sorriso da Dadá, or the gastronomic complex Bahia Marina. Other places to go: Paraiso Tropical and Carangueijo do Sergipe. Don't leave without trying acarajé and moqueca. The pastries are great also. Salvador is Brazil's Africa, food-wise it is as exotic and tasteful.
Taxis -Use taxis,they are very cheap..Visit the Pousada Convento de Sao Paulo,and have a very romantic diner there.
