Overall the staff fall on the rude side. They are not very helpful. Ofen they mis-inform you.

It's a bout 4 blocks away from the beach which not that great since you still have to do a considerable amount of walking. However it is very close to the Siquera Campos Metro which gives you easy access to other parts of Rio.

The rooms are very plain and have the bare minimum neccessitites. You don't really can't expect any luxury. The bathrooms are clean and well mantained but again not luxourious.

The breakfast is reasonable and ok.

What really makes this place an "just ok" place is it's price.

Also remember the pictures for this hotel in it's website or other travel websites are not realistic - make it look a little bit more luxurious.

Top Local Tips for Rio de Janeiro

Safety Safety problems in Rio seem to be overexaggerated in most travel guides. Use the same amount of caution that you would use in any big city and you will most probably be ok. Have a map on you to be able to show the address to a cab driver - most of them do not understand a word of English. The same comes handy if trying to ask for directions even at information desks.

The egg yolk bandit Watch out for a guy on Copacabana/Ipanama beach by the fort. He goes around with a little wooden box and throws bird poo or egg yolk on your foot, and then he will try and clean it off for some real. Or if you don't pay attention he will pick pocket you while he cleans your mess off. He's about 5'10 and skinny, we caught the guy on 2 different occasions trying to flick he's gunk on people from behind write in the middle of the walkway at 2 pm. Put this guy out of business...have a great trip

Don't go at the beginning of Brazil's spring. Wait until further into the season so it warms up a bit. It was quite cool in Rio at the tail end of September. I would love to go in mid-October for more sun. That being said, I had a great time!
