Poor security. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere. In fact, too relaxed. Each morning, the hotel prints a list of guest names and leaves it next to the bar unattended. On the morning after our arrival, a gentleman with the board asked us our room number and checked us off. This seemed to be standard since we have been there at least 5 times before. after about 15 minutes, we returnrd to our room to see a bunch of security guards and maids talking about this incident. Our room was robbed. We went to the police..no help. Back at the hotel, the security guard was able to identify the crime on video. The robber was the same man who checked us in for breakfast. Why hadn't he been at his post beforehand to prevent it? And why do they make a habit of leaving the guest list out in the open? This spoilt what we had planned to be a week long vacation. We ended up leaving 5 days earlier. The staff was kind and helpful. The location is the best, but I won't be going back.

Very comfortable and ideal location

Excellent Hotel in a fantastic location close enough to all the action on Ipanema beach but far enough when you required a bit of peace and quiet. Great staff in general who were more than helpful - you always get one exception! Excellent value for money, good all round facilities including catering and bar. One small moan - the buffet breakfast could be a bit chaotic, limited space in the dining room and consistently running out of certain foods. That aside, we had a fabulous couple of weeks in Ipanema Beach and Rio de Janeiro - we're looking forward to returning at some stage.

The staff at Ipanema Inn were extremely helpful. They allowed us to change rooms after the first night to a better room and were always helpful with directions and telling us which bus to take where. They also gave us a refund when we missed a soccer game. The location can't be beat, and the staff made our stay in Rio de Janeiro very pleasant. When we go back, we will definitely stay there again!
