Top Local Tips for Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro I've visited Brazil almost every year since birth. I love it there!! Remember when planning your trip that the seasons are the opposite of the seasons in the U.S. Fall is Spring, and Winter is Summer, you know? So our summer, June-August - is winter in Brazil, so the weather is cooler, sometimes rainy and much less crowded. All of the attractions, Christ Statue, Pao de Acucar, and Museums are all open year round. Our spring - March - May is fall in Brazil and is a great time of year to go. The weather is clear, 70-85 degrees, and not humid. Spring - Sept-Nov. is warmer, 75-90 degrees and normally tourist free - also a great time of year to go. Summer - Dec. - February is the hottest and most crowded 85-115 degrees and the beach season is at it's peak. BUT New Year's Eve in Brazil is a must see!! Everyone wears white and heads to the beach for midnight fireworks - gorgeous!

Shuttle and Tour services Use a private shuttle and tour service. Many of the hotels offer a service but I recommend hiring a private service to get the in-depth tour of the real Rio de Janeiro! Not only because it is what I do for a living but it is what I believe ~ 'American In Brasil'
