Top Local Tips for Gramado

Tour the country side, visit the "colonias" Among the many things to visit and see in the region I would recommend visitors to take one of the agrotours that start from the park called "Praça das Comunicações" (located just next to the bus station). You are taken in pretty old (but in mint condition) buses to a visit to the Gramado country side (colonias) where you we will be entertained by local farmers, interact with the, see their small properties, eat their great food, dance and sing with them, try their home made wine, ginger ale and "cachaça". The buses usually leave at around 3:00 pm and return about three hours later. The excursion fare, that includes food, is of about R$30. The schedule of visits changes according to day of the week. I have already taken all of them, but the one I recommend most is that called "Mergulho no Vale". It is important to know that the guide and the farmers speak only Portuguese or their own dialects derived from Italian and German.
