After travelling for 10 weeks throughout Argentina, Peru, Bolivia and Chile, I can confidently say that 'Hotel Nuevo San Francisco' is grossly overpriced.
I had booked a room over the internet and when I arrived late in the day after a long bus trip, I was shown 3 rooms all well below my expectation as represented on the internet. There was not a room that had a security box that was functional. They were all locked and the management did not have keys to open them. The room that I did take had faulty air conditioning and to add to my frustration, when I went to take a shower in the evening it was cold. I gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt, but no in the morning again the shower was cold.
The breakfast was the worst I had at any hostel, hotel or guesthouse in the time I was travelling in South America and when I questioned the management about the cold showers, disfunctional security box and faulty air conditioning with regard to the 120p tarrif, I was told by the management if I didn't like it they would call the police.
Definitely the worst experience in my 10 weeks in South America, and I stayed in many wonderful, comfortable and hospitable places. Definitely not worth the money.
Don't stay here if you can avoid it.
There must be other places in San Juan that treat travellers better.
