Top Local Tips for Salta

NOA Rent a Car at Hotel Salta Be cautious, not recommendable! They did not answered emails and did not keep to their offers made by phone (free millage) and 10% discount. We got a completely run down pick up truck with 95.000 km and tired suspensions and when we wanted to change it, they told us that we are not any more illegible for the 10% discount for a 1 week rent. We changed company (to Localiza) and were very happy with our decision.

The Movistar trip, and a great restaurant This trip, that follows a major part of the Tren de Nubes route, is well worth it, with spectacular scenery and sights. but be prepared for a very long (15 hour) bus ride. The next evening, one must have dinner at the small, but outstanding restaurant, Osadia, recommended by our hostess at El Lagar, Mariana Etchart

MAAM & Movi Track Two different things: the MAAM - Archaelogical Museum of the High Mountains - is well worth a visit. Dedicated to the three children whose almost perfectly preserved remains were found at a high altitude sanctuary (6700m) on Llullailaco volcano. Totally different, the Movi Track does great excursions - I did the Safari to the Clouds which was a long day trip but great. Does a round trip, unlike the train, obviously can go places the train can't. Great atmosphere, well organised, nice extras included. The roof opens above each seat so you can spent a lot of your time standing up and admiring the unbelievable scenery.
