Read Trip Advisor reviews Seriously...I read every review I could find on this site, and it really helped. From hotel selection, to what to do, where and when. Only thing I found overplayed was the crime issue. We felt very safe at all times, used taxis frequently, and had no problems at all. It may be that we are desensitized to it, or that we have adapted to not carrying obviously tourist things around with us, living in Rio de Janeiro...but we found Buenos Aires to be friendly and easy to manage. Do not leave without at least trying Havanas, the Mar del Plata speciality that has spread. They are cookies (biscuits) with chocolate and soft caramel - extremely good if you can stand the guilt! The food court inside Galerias Pacificas is excellent for lunch - great choices, cheap, super food - but get there much later than noon and finding a table is tricky! Restaurants at Puerto Madero are also superb, but use Mosquito repellent if you want to sit outside. Meat portions are huge, and very easily shared.

Tango Brujo A neat tango school. Pricey but worth it. i did a private lesson with my sister. we were traveling alone and they obtained dance partners for us. Wow did that help in more ways that one. It was cool to have someone already know what they were doing as the teachers were teaching. We learned far more than if we were with our husbands(sorry loves) but really really fun and worth it. Very atmospheric as well. Can buy both shoes and clothes there.
